‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that with the current murder mystery, fans were hoping that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) or the GCPD might put in a special call for some backup from the greatest Genoa City detective ever. While this idea sounds like it would be a lot of fun, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
While fans have been reaching out to Doug Davidson on Twitter, he says that he doesn’t think things are going to change. One fan wrote on Twitter,
“Definitely not forgotten. Paul Williams is in the top 5 % of Y and R s greatest characters ever. The heart of the show and also praying for Paul’s return to the show. Doug you are an incredibly great actor and the show is not now or ever will be the same without you.”

Davidson actually responded saying, “You are so incredibly kind writing such a sweet tweet. I truly appreciate it, but I can’t see things changing.” While fans are disappointed to say the least, several more responded to the Twitter thread saying, “I was just going to say would be a great storyline with Paul investigating Diane Jenkins because we all know she’s not going to stay nice forever.”, “I sent them a message about this! We want you back to stay!! Maybe you were not really dead, and Victor has hidden you away and you will escape later, and form a new business and compete with him!!” and “I TOTALLY AGREE!! Most of the fans grew up watching Paul & Nikki Newman were teenagers!! We’d be happy to see Paul back on Y&R where he belongs!! Love Doug Davidson (Paul) I don’t know WHY he was pushed to the side.”
While we can keep hoping for this to change, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing our favorite Paul Williams anytime soon.
