‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers share that Billy Flynn recently dished to Soap Opera Digest about his two favorite leading ladies, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Phyllis Summer (Michelle Stafford).
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Cane and Phyllis Recently Hooked Up
Y&R fans know that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Phyllis recently hooked up. The fans are divided on which pair should be together, with some wanting Cane with his true love, Lily, while others are enjoying the fresh, exciting energy Cane and Phyllis are bringing to the show.
Flynn admits,
“When it started, I think Cane was entertained by Phyllis. And the chemistry Michelle and I have is really interesting and fun and sort of this playful kind of thing, so it turned into this sort of thing where you don’t really know why they’re doing it or what they’re doing it for.”
The actor also makes it clear that Cane and Phyllis are also having fun while figuring it out. Flynn continued, “You know, Lily’s gonna be pissed!”
He added,
“At least for Cane, none of this stuff is going the way Cane had planned. The thought of somebody who’s carefree, and is this sort of ticking time bomb, I think that’s kind of appealing to Cane.”
Flynn confessed,
“But at the same time, he needs something from her. I don’t think Cane quite understands how messy it’s gonna get yet!”
The DOOL alum said he was unsure of the long-term potential for Cane and Phyllis, considering that he would drop the redhead in a heartbeat if Lily wanted to give their relationship another shot.
Loyal “Lane” fans still want Cane and Lily together, despite Billy Flynn being a recast. Flynn shares,
“I mean, look, I know Daniel Goddard and Christel Khalil made Cane and Lily a really popular pairing.”
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Flynn Is Rooting for Cane and Lily to Find Their Way Back to Each Other
Flynn knows what it’s like to be one half of a popular supercouple. He played Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives. Chad and Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) are an iconic couple on the Peacock soap.
Ironically, Conner Floyd, who played Chance Chancellor on Y&R, recently switched to DOOL and will soon be seen in Flynn’s former role as Chad DiMera.
Although due to DOOL’s unusual filming schedule, Flynn can still be seen as Chad DiMera until Conner Floyd assumes the role sometime in April 2026.
Flynn said,
“As someone who came from a popular pairing on another show, I know what that fan base can mean. But I think much like Conner taking over my part on DOOL as Chad, I think if you support that couple, you’re supporting it in whatever form you can get it in.”
He also recognizes the power of the chemistry between two actors. This allows for a major supercouple like Chad and Abigail on DOOL or Cane and Lily on Y&R to work.
Flynn commented on the special chemistry between himself and Christel Khalil,
“And with Christel and myself, I think we both do.”
He continued,
“So it’s like, trying to figure out, how do they get back together? Obviously, there’s a new version of Cane, and he’s much different than he was.”
Flynn concluded,
“When Lily’s in the room, she’s the only one in the room. I’m a romantic. I want Cane and Lily to find their way back to each other ultimately, and I’m rooting for that to be done in the best, most romantic way possible.”
