‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers confirm that Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are returning to Y&R for a short-term story arc.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Moore Won Several Awards for His Role as Malcom Winters

Moore is known for his role as Malcom Winters, and Fox played Dr. Stephanie Simmons. Both actors are set to return to the screen in April.

The pair started filming on Tuesday, February 17th. According to Soap Opera Digest, they will air for a “multi-arc.” For now, the show isn’t sharing details about their return, but it did issue a press release.

As teased in the press release,

“In the episodes, Malcom Winters and Dr. Stephanie Simmons surprising return has shocking and lasting implications for the residents of Genoa City.”

Moore is steadfastly loyal and grateful to the show for jumpstarting his career. He told the publication, “First for Women, in 2024,

“You never forget where you came from. It sounds cliché and maybe cheesy, but it’s also true.”

Longtime fans may recall that, back in 1994, Malcom and Fox’s characters, Malcom and Stephanie, briefly dated on the soap, but the relationship went nowhere.

Their romance fizzled out one year later, and Stephanie left the canvas. Malcom’s involvement with Stephanie came after Malcom had sex with Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell).

He slept with Dru while she was married to his brother, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). She was under the influence of cold medicine and mistakenly thought that Malcom was Neil.

Their romp resulted in a baby, who is Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). However, the truth of Lily’s paternity took a decade to come out.

Soap Opera Digest also reported, “Moore earned a 2000 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a drama series, seven NAACP Image Awards and two nominations for the Hottest Male Star at the Soap Opera Digest Awards.”

Fox, whose breakout role was Maya Reubens on the short-lived show, Generations, which was the first African American-based soap.

Ironically, while on Generations, her love interest was Kristoff St. John, who played Adam Marshall. Also, in 1998, she briefly played Carmen Siva on Days of Our Lives.

While working on Y&R, she landed a major role in the blockbuster film Independence Day, opposite Will Smith.

For her role as Jasmine Dubrow in the movie, she earned an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss in 1996. She’s also starred in several other films and TV shows.

Interestingly, she also starred opposite comedy legend Larry David in the iconic show Curb Your Enthusiasm, where she played the mother of a family displaced by a hurricane.

In 2003, she also starred in the memorable martial arts film Kill Bill, written by Quentin Tarantino. Fox almost didn’t play on Y&R because of the stigma around daytime TV.

Fox explained that she almost didn’t get the chance to be on Y&R because her agent told her, “Honey, you’re on a soap opera. This is gonna be a $60 million movie. So sorry.”

Fortunately, Billy Flay’s wife loves Y&R, and everything worked out as it was supposed to. We’re excited to see what Malcom and Stephanie get up to in Genoa City this time around.
