CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that this is one of those moments the fans really love to see. It’s one thing when a show normalizes rape by turning it into a tool to form a super couple of, in this case, add a character. It’s a whole other watching it unravel.

More than anything, ‘Young and the Restless’ is curious how this episode will be accepted in today’s climate, or rather, how Malcom Winters (Shemar Moore)’s excuse and reasoning will be accepted.

Coming to us from March 1, 2005, we get to relive the moment when Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) learns who her parents are and the truth behind her conception. We can already see Malcolm and Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell) squirming.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For August 6: Snooping kid

It all appears to have started when Lily saw an official looking envelop with Drucilla’s name on it, and she waited for her and Malcolm to return home.

Now, we use the term snooping loosely because if Lily was really snooping, were sure she would’ve steamed the envelope open.

Maybe she did previously and we missed it, but in this episode, she’s nt-so calmly waiting for everyone to arrive.

When Drucilla and Malcolm do return home, Lily asked them what it was, and she didn’t relent until Drucilla and Malcolm cracked and spilled the beans.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For August 6: More than expected

While Lily may have been able to accept being Malcolm and Drucilla’s daughter, learning that she was a product of rape was a bit much.

It’s the type of thing that can destroy a person and we’re sure there were some heartfelt and traumatic moments in the following episodes as she came to terms with this.

Sadly, this type of thing used to be prevalent in daytime television.

It was generally used as a means to bring couples together and enhance the storyline and so on.

It was normalized until the late 90s when people started to speak out, and one show in particular (“General Hospital”) approached it head on as it was the foundation for their super couple.

It’s also been used as a tool to show the horrors of the act and what it can do to people.

In this instance, though Malcolm had drugged Drucilla to rape her, she joined with him to hide the act from her husband and Malcolm’s brother, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John).

Should be interesting to see how it was dealt with after this, and if they used it as a tool to educate or rationalized it and forgave everyone.

How do you think Lily will react? Let us know below, and check back with ‘Young and the Restless‘ for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around. Don’t forget to visit TVRocker for all of the latest exciting news on all of your favorite daytime television soaps.
