‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that from 2018-2019 head producer, Mal Young made a number of decisions that rankled devoted viewers. Young acknowledged that while working for Y&R, he caused some controversy. One choice he made, which continues to enrage certain fans, was to terminate Doug Davidson (Paul Williams).

With 40 years on Y&R at the time, Davidson was the cast member with the longest tenure and was well-liked and regarded by the audience. To make matters worse, Y&R started acting in a way that fans felt was disrespectful to the actor who had played Paul for four decades.

While Davidson’s character was acknowledged but not given any screen time, Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) was employed as a detective and was seen working at the PCPD while sitting in Paul’s chair. The Young and the Restless lavishly honored Eric Braeden’s character Victor Newman onscreen in February 2019 to mark his 40th birthday.

To the pleasure of the audience, Paul made his comeback, but he did so while passing by the display honoring Victor; by contrast, nothing was done to recognize Davidson’s time on the soap opera. The fact that Braeden was being praised but the actor did not seem like it was being shoved in his face by Y&R. Davidson acknowledged that the show had fired him at this point.

‘The Young and the Restless’ has not mentioned Davidson’s return, and the actor has declared on social media that his stint on the show is gone, but the narrative on the show still disparages him by having characters talk about him. This is what happened on January 3 when Danny ran into Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell), and throughout their talk, Chris and Danny Romalotti frequently brought up Paul and even referred to him as the police chief as if he were still a prominent figure in Genoa City. To make matters worse, their conversation and eye contact suggested that they were still in love. Paul felt that this was disrespectful because Christine is his wife.

What do you think? Would you like to see Danny and Christine get back together and what would happen between her and Paul? Let us know in the comments below.
