Telemundo La Reina del Sur spoilers revel the long wait is over! On October 18th, we got to see how the cliffhanger of season 2 turned out. Let’s take a look at the premiere episode. Plus, we’ll talk about what’s supposed to go down next.

Telemundo La Reina del Sur Spoilers: Long time coming

First, La Reina del Sur spoilers reveal the second season ended in 2019. The last thing viewers saw was Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) urging her daughter, Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra), to run as Teresa was once again tracked down by enemies. In fact, one could hear Sofia screaming for her mother before everything went back. Well, surprisingly enough, the show picked that up where they left off.

In footage obviously filmed several years back, Sofia and Teresa are on the run. Sofia was reluctant to follow her mother’s orders to take shelter. However, Teresa got her way and did her best to escape a bunch of government agents who converged on her new home.

Eventually, Sofia would follow another order and call Oleg Yosikov (Antonio Gil) for help. When he didn’t answer and the phone was getting low, Sofia once again proved why she rules Telenovela kids by calling her half-sister, Paloma Aljarafe (Agata Clares). It was a great touch to see how much they’d planned ahead with this footage.

Telemundo La Reina del Sur Spoilers: Changes

Obviously, the ending meant a lot of changes in the show’s world. Teresa has been locked up in the US, accused of killing DEA agents. Much like in season two, however, Oleg is on the case. We assume he eventually got Sofia’s messages and tried to find her. Which appears to have led our favorite grumpy Russian to be part of an elaborate plan to rescue Teresa from authorities who are mistreating her.

Meanwhile, Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) has managed to stay in power as Mexico’s president. This is despite the fact the US tried to kill him after deciding he wasn’t their perfect puppet after all. His wife, Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar), is locked up herself, in a sense.

She appears to have had some emotional trauma from the shocking reveal of what her brother did. Not to mention his death. So, she’s basically hidden away from the world and appears to be getting some kind of treatment. That’s one thing we loved about the premiere—the past had consequences. And this is no better illustrated by Sofia and her story so far.

Telemundo La Reina del Sur Spoilers: Problem child

If you didn’t see season two, you might not know what Sofia went through. From kidnapping, to multiple escapes and recaptures, to learning her mother is the Queen of the South and killed her father, as well as several deaths/near deaths/attempts on her life, Sofia saw it all. In season three, we’re seeing an older, darker version of the character.

One who is clearly suffering from the trauma she went through and is acting out. Especially since others her age are all too fast to torment her about her criminal mother. We learned Sofia has been kicked out of multiple schools, leaving Paloma at the end of her rope.

And now Sofia ran away after a violent confrontation that led to her being kicked out of yet another one. Well, if she refuses to apologize. And given the vandalized car she left in her wake as a message to her tormentor? Well, we think she’s not having that.

Telemundo La Reina del Sur Spoilers: Thoughts and what’s next

Overall, we thought it was a good beginning to the new season and are hopeful it will continue to deliver. Of course, this is Telemundo. Their follow-up seasons sometimes leave something to be desired. Maybe season two being so good will help break that pattern. We’ll see.

As for tonight, part of the plan to rescue Teresa involved poisoning her. And it looks, based on the promo, it’s going to be a close call. Meanwhile, expect everyone to be looking for the escaped prisoner as Sofia looks to be heading for more danger tonight.
