La Reina del Sur spoilers reveal the wait is finally over—almost. The second season of this show debuted in 2019, eight years after the first season, to huge success. Which is clearly something Telemundo needs at the moment, as some of their recent projects haven’t done as well as expected/hoped. Now, we finally have a premiere month for the third season. Here’s what you need to know.

La Reina del Sur 3 Spoilers: Long wait

Okay, so fans won’t have to wait as long for this season as it took to do a season 2. However, this has been a long time coming. The network announced a third season was on the way over two years ago! They even had a trailer, which seemed to imply most of the work was done. However, it took until August 7, 2022 for a firmer update on the status of the show.

It’s set to premiere in October, which should coincide nicely with the airing of season 2. It’s currently on at 1 PM on the network, giving viewers a chance to refresh their memory.

Fans are already all over the social media accounts celebrating the news, and we don’t blame them. We didn’t get the chance to watch season 1, but the second season is can’t-miss TV. We think the friendship between Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) and Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) was a huge part of what made the season so great.

But Teresa’s daughter, Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) was the true show stealer of the season. If you missed any of it, we’d definitely recommend tuning in. And catching up on the episodes already aired online.

La Reina del Sur 3 Spoilers: What’s next?

So, now that we know there’s a new season coming in October, what can we expect? Well, La Reina del Sur spoilers reveal season 3 will finally answer the cliffhanger at the end. See, Teresa had been in hiding and circumstances allowed one enemy in particular to find her.

Who then kidnapped her daughter to force Teresa to carry out a plan he had to win the Presidency of Mexico. By the final episode, Teresa had been reunited with her daughter and was living in a picturesque locale.

The happy moment we saw was interrupted by people storming the place, which made Teresa order her daughter inside. We hear Sofia yelling, but have no idea of what happened. Apparently, Teresa has been accused of murdering DEA agents and has spent years in jail. And not just any jail. A new promo released August 7 reveals she hadn’t seen the sun or moon in all this time. But there’s a lot more.

La Reina del Sur 3 Spoilers: Revenge

Other shots in the promos released so far reveal Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) will once again insert himself into Teresa’s life. This time, it looks like he is part of a plan to break her out of prison and take on the DEA. Should be interesting to see how these two manage to cooperate after what he did.

We’ll also see Sofia return, along with a bunch of other characters. That includes Oleg, our favorite grumpy Russian. As with the second season, reports say this was filmed in multiple countries, with a huge team behind it. So, we can sort of understand the wait. But soon, we’ll get to see how the next chapter of Teresa’s story plays out.
