After a legendary 22 seasons, 365 games, and seven Super Bowls, the great Tom Brady is hanging up his cleats. The future Hall of Famer is reportedly retiring from the NFL according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington and Adam Schefter.

Schefter put out the tweet saying,

“Tom Brady is retiring from football after 22 extraordinary seasons, multiple sources tell @JeffDarlington and me.”

The NFL official Twitter account even put out a tweet with an image of Brady simply saying, “GOAT. #ThankYouTom”

Future Hall Of Famer Tom Brady Finally Calling It A Career After 22 NFL Seasons And 7 Super Bowls?

Brady, love him or hate him, has been the face of the NFL for two decades and has earned three MVPs, five Super Bowl MVPs, two Offensive Player of the Years, three first-team All-Pro honors, and 15 Pro Bowl selections. Of course, he also has the incredible 7 Super Bowls.

He now owns half the record book, including career passing yards (84,520), passes attempted (11,317) and completed (7,263), and touchdowns (624).

Drafted 199th, in the sixth round of the NFL draft, no one expected this lanky, slow kid to amount to anything but maybe a backup or practice squad player. However, after an injury on the New England Patriots forced Brady to step in, he hit the ground running and by his second season, he went from fourth on the depth chart to a starter, to winning his first Super Bowl over the heavily favored 2001 St. Louis Rams.

In 2020, he ended his run with the New England Patriots to go to Tampa Bay where he silenced doubters that he was simply a product of the New England coaching and led them to a Super Bowl victory in his first season with the team.

Since Tom has been in Florida, he has gained a much more favorable light, and many people are accepting the fact that he is a different breed, and in fact, one of the best, if not the absolute best to ever step onto the gridiron.

Should this truly be the end, it is the end of an era and one that we may not see again in our lifetimes.

Happy retirement to the GOAT and enjoy your family. I know they’ve been waiting for you to be home more. Enjoy it and thank you for making the last 22 years truly something special to watch and appreciate.
