‘Say Yes to the Dress’ owes a lot of its popularity to enigmatic consultant/manager/designer Randy Fenoli, so when he decided he would appear remotely during season 19 of the reality series, what could they say?
Season 19 kicked off on Saturday, July 24 with an ‘at home’ Randy facetiming into a bride’s appointment- a crew member who works on the TLC show.
Perhaps it was the familiarity with the bride, or that Randy felt emboldened giving his opinion from states away, but he really didn’t like the bride, Daniela’s top pick.

Usually, Randy is far more diplomatic when dealing with brides, most of them on the verge of a total meltdown thanks to their entourage’s outspoken opinions.
In fact, many times Randy has had to swallow his true opinion, especially when it comes to brides who choose sheer dresses.
“I can’t wrap my head around it,” Fenoli said of see-through or cut out wedding dress trend. “I’m 57, and I’m just a traditionalist.”
He understands where brides who are drawn to sheer or sexier dresses are coming from, he just doesn’t share the same mentality of overtly showing off their figures at their wedding.
“I know if I had a daughter walking down the aisle, she would not be wearing a see-through dress,” he added.
Fenoli went on to say that his belief is that the lean toward transparent wedding gowns makes sense in the global fashion world.
“It’s almost taken on kind of a European kind of feel,” Fenoli said of the more daring wedding-dress couture. Like with all fashion, Europe is always ahead of the rest of the world and far more accepting of more audacious looks.
So through a sheer dresses isn’t the designer’s favorite style, his only goal is for brides to find dresses that make them feel confident, beautiful and comfortable.
“My goal is always to help the bride choose a dress that they feel the most beautiful in, because when they feel beautiful, they wear that dress like there is no other dress on the planet,” he said. “They know they look good, and everybody feels it. It’s about the confidence that you have while wearing the dress.”
So, did crew member Daniela find a Randy-approved dress? She sure did, and no, there was not a sheer panel in sight!
Season 19 of “Say Yes to The Dress” airs Saturday on TLC at 8 p.m. ET.
