This seems a little hard to believe as Bethenny Frankel is the kind of person who is intimidated by no one and no thing, right? Yet, her former “The Real Housewives of New York” co-star Kelly Bensimon says she believes she made Bethenny feel “insecure” while the two of them worked together. Here’s what you need to know.
During an interview with Dave Quinn for his new book, “Not All Diamonds and Rose,” Kelly claimed that Bethenny felt threatened by her when she joined the second season of the show in 2008.
Kelly Bensimon Thinks Bethenny Frankel Was Intimidated By Her
Kelly put it this way, “Bethenny was just looking for attention. She was so insecure. Remember, she was the old guard and I was the new, pretty, fun girl. She didn’t have kids. I was a mom with young kids. She was struggling in her career, I was accomplished.”
The real estate agent added, “There were just so many things about me that — and I don’t like to use the word ‘threatened’ because I don’t like it when women talk about each other in those kinds of terms — but she felt a certain way about me that I somehow became her nemesis, immediately.”
If that weren’t enough, Kelly says that her friendship with Bethenny was doomed from the start and even before she joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of New York.”
“Bethenny and I had met before the show because she came to an event at my house. Bethenny was dating a photographer I knew, and she was his date,” Bensimon told Quinn. “I didn’t even really notice her, she didn’t make an impression on me, bad or good — and I don’t mean that in a nasty way, I mean that in a genuinely honest way.”
To add fuel to the fire, Jill Zarin even added her two cents to the matter. “Bethenny hated Kelly even before the show, because she felt that Kelly snubbed her at that party. Then she got even more upset when they met again on the show and Kelly had no idea who she was.”
While both Kelly and Jill are still friends, neither one has kept in touch with Bethenny.
