Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won the “Humanitarian of the Year” award at a glitzy New York gala, Project Healthy Minds, last night, as they spoke about the dangers of social media.
Kate Stressed The Importance of Not Allowing Technology To Raise Your Child
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton delivered a very logical and helpful message on the same topic hours beforehand.
Kate’s suggestion was to put down the phones and participate in family dinners every night. Prince William and Princess Kate don’t allow their children to have mobile phones.
Harry and Meghan’s suggestion involved censorship and placing the blame on someone else, rather than taking responsibility for themselves and their family.
Kate stressed that you don’t want technology to raise your child. Limiting or prohibiting screentime altogether is the best way to handle the issue.
Attention is something we can choose to give each other and our families. Parents should understand that the foundation for adequate social and emotional skills is building bonds early in life.
Harry Blames The Algorithm And Promotes Censorship
Kate’s solution makes perfect sense. The burden is on us to prevent harm to our children and families. The Princess of Wales stresses that this is in our power to control.
Harry thinks that controlling the algorithms is the answer. He spoke at the ceremony about the crisis of too much screentime and how it impacts mental health.
The Duke of Sussex addressed the social media epidemic by calling for the structure of these platforms to be changed. He’s promoting censorship, which is a dangerous way to address the issue, and that’s basically what Harry is recommending.
Harry and Meghan don’t seem as invested or responsible in raising their children as Kate and William. It’s obvious they expect the internet to be someone else’s problem.
The only answer is to make a conscious choice to put down the phone and spend time with your family and children.
What Harry and Meghan are essentially saying is that if you have alcoholism, it’s the fault of the bar, not the alcoholic, and taking responsibility by avoiding the bar in the first place.
The Sussexes don’t even mention that internet addiction can be remedied simply by limiting screentime or avoiding it altogether.
Focusing on the real issues is far more critical than blaming someone else for your own issues. Changing the platforms altogether is a completely absurd idea.
Relationships are the answer. Spending time with your family is the answer. Prince Harry suggests someone take care of it.
Harry And Meghan Don’t Offer Sensible Solutions
Harry thinks that if he can change the system, it will help everybody. Kate is the one who has the right idea and is focusing on what is important. Internet and social media addicts need to take responsibility proactively, just like any other form of addiction.
Speaking onstage as they accepted their award, Meghan said,
“Our Children, Archie and Lili, are just six and four years old. Luckily, still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming.”
Of course, Harry and Meghan mentioned their project, The Parents Network, which the couple constantly pat themselves on the back for.
Harry and Meghan tell us there is a problem, but are not offering sensible solutions. They don’t have a genuine approach to helping people.
Harry and Meghan were celebrated for their work with their Archewell Foundation as Project Healthy Minds honored Harry’s work as a humanitarian, mental health advocate, environmentalist, and military combat veteran. They listed Harry’s controversial memoir, “Spare,” as one of his significant achievements.
In a joint statement from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they said, “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives.”
They continued, “As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by their stories and are honored to support them.”
The pair concluded, “We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.”
