The royal buck stops here. There’s a new report that says even though Prince Charles is a very loving grandfather, he is refusing to make his grandson Archie Harrison a prince.
And that’s not because he’s trying to be spiteful towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Instead, this is all part of his plan to slim down the otherwise bloated British monarchy. Here’s what you need to know.
According to new reports, the future King of England wants to limit the number of key roles within the family in an effort to appease the British public.
Apparently, Prince Charles already told his son prince Harry he will change key documents to prevent Archie from inheriting the title, which would have once been his birthright. Little Archie is currently seventh in line for the throne.
Prince Charles Just Gave Handed Prince Harry And Meghan Markle a Major Setback
“Harry and Meghan were told Archie would never be a prince, even when Charles became king,” the tabloid’s source said.
The news didn’t set well with both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple hinted to Oprah Winfrey in their seismic interview back in March that they believed their son wouldn’t get a title because of his mixed race.
In their interview, Prince Harry said his father stripped him and his family from their royal protection and cut him off financially early last year. In addition, Harry and Meghan also suggested there were some serious concerns over how dark their son Archie’s skin would be by a senior member of the royal family.
But this isn’t the first time that Prince Charles has said that he wanted to slim down the monarchy. In fact, back in 2016 when Prince Andrew tried to make his daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice full-time royals, Charles refused to budge.
He also made it pretty clear that he wanted to be careful about spending too much on Buckingham Palace’s renovations that year and also wasn’t looking to move elsewhere, as he wanted to slim down the monarchy’s property portfolio.
