Baltimore Raven’s pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson died unexpectedly last month, and now officials announced Friday his death was due to “the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine.” A spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, Maryland has made the ruling that the death was an accident.
No further details have been released, but now we understand what happened.
Ferguson was found in a Baltimore home on June 21, and according to police, never regained consciousness. He was later pronounced dead by medics on the scene. The Ravens released a statement saying they were, “profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon.”
Fans wrote on the post saying, “Why does this stuff keep happening RIP”, “Rest In Peace, Jaylon  Our thoughts go out to his family and friends and everyone associated with @Ravens during this time.” and “Reportedly in the best shape of his entire life!!! Harsh reminder that we are not promised another day regardless of circumstances.”

NFL’s Jaylon Ferguson Death Caused By Fentanyl, Cocaine Mixture
After his death was first announced, police did not suspect foul play and said they were investigating the chance that he had suffered an overdose.
Selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Jaylon played in 38 games for the team getting 4.5 sacks and 67 tackles. He was previously a stand-out at Louisiana Tech where he set the NCAA record for most career sacks.
Ferguson was just 26 years old.
