“There isn’t anything else in the world that can bring you back from the darkest places, then sport”. Well said, Prince Harry. Netflix’s new documentary ‘Rising Phoenix’ will tell the story of the Paralympic Games, and the importance it has not just to the athletes, but the fans as well.

Some of you may be wondering, what’s Prince Harry doing in a Netflix documentary? He famously started the Invictus Games, an international adaptive multi-sport event specifically created for wounded, injured, or sick veterans. It’s no wonder the Paralympics would have an effect on him.

Watch the trailer below that was uploaded to Netflix’s official YouTube channel with the following caption,

“Rising Phoenix tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games. From the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet, the Paralympics sparked a global movement which continues to change the way the world thinks about disability, diversity & human potential. Elite athletes and insiders reflect on the Paralympic Games and examine how they impact a global understanding of disability, diversity and excellence.”

This is going to be a very important documentary that looks in-depth at the Paralympic Games, and the Prince’s quote at the beginning is still in my head. There’s nothing quite like sports that can help pull you up, no matter who you are. The competitiveness, exercise, athlete mentality, and support group is a winning combination, not just for physical health, but mental health as well.

Netflix’s ‘Rising Phoenix’ premieres August 26.
