On Friday evening, Netflix introduced its Holiday Movie Kingdom in a lengthy Twitter thread. Netflix has no doubt created a holiday movie universe where their series of movies are connected, which makes them even more interesting to watch. This Netflix’s holiday season movie world is “an interconnected world of eight films (and counting) where anyone could become a princess and your soulmate may be hiding in plain sight — or the past.”
Remember these favorite Christmas movies: A Christmas Prince which was released on November 17, 2017; A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding released on November 30, 2017; A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby released on December 5, 2019; The Knight Before Christmas which started streaming on November 21, 2019; The Holiday Calendar which was released November 2, 2018; The Princess Switch released on November 16, 2018; Christmas Inheritance which started streaming on December 15, 2017; and Holiday In The Wild released on December 1, 2019.
Netflix Christmas Movie Empire: There Is A Connection between Eight of Netflix’s Holiday Movie.
It was revealed in the thread that the connections between these films began as the producers wanted to show a movie within the 2018 movie, The Holiday Calendar.
“It felt like a natural fit to show one of our other films available on Netflix,” Amanda Phillips Atkins, EVP announced at MPCA. MPCA was also behind 2017’s Christmas Inheritance. Three of the much loved Christmas Prince movies were produced by MPCA. The Princess Switch, which was released in 2018 and 2019 movie, The Knight Before Christmas and Holiday In The Wild are also produced by MPCA.
Atkins further said that the idea soon became q fun opportunity for them to die the different worlds together from one Christmas movie to another Christmas movie with small easter eggs, reminding us of how and Netflix had told all the people involved in the movies to prepare for the chance to have more connections. She also made mention of them planning to branch out from their Christmas movie characters watch each other on TV. Atkins said, explaining how they created the world that connects the three christmas season movies. “We thought it would be a great opportunity to build out a whole universe, not just for Aldovia but for the whole world of our Christmas movies!”
Now, with the holiday season films that are slated to hit Netflix in 2020, which are Switched Again, a sequel to Vanessa Hudgens’ Princess Switch (2017), as well as Operation Christmas Drop – we believe the streaming giant’s Holiday Movie Universe is only going to get more interconnected.Atkins mentioned that discovering fans’ reactions as they discover the connections with each release. Netflix is gradually building a Christmas movie empire where all these families are connected. We can’t wait to see more movies in the nearest future.
