When we first were introduced to Carlton Oglesby and Shantel Oglesby on My 600-Lb Life, they hadn’t left their house in years because of their weight. They were pretty much disabled and had to have family and friends take care of them.
Shantel felt as if her brother’s weight was all her fault and she thought that she needed to set a much better example for him and they really needed help getting their health and weight back in order.
My 600-Lb Life: Their Story
In the eighth season of the show, Carlton and Shantel were very desperate to get Dr. Now’s help. Carlton had issues with his weight from a very young age and when he was just about five years old, he weighed over 200 pounds! He was bullied at school because of how much he weighed and that really took a toll on him. When he was 18 years old, he weighed about 500 pounds.
My 600-Lb Life: Carlton and Shantel Oglesby Make Life Changes
Shantel is Carlton’s older sister and by the time she was 13 years old, she already weighed over 350 pounds. When she went to college, she had to drop out because her weight got very high and she couldn’t focus on her studies. By the time she was 20, she weighed over 450 pounds. She told Dr. Now that this part of her life was really hard and this is when she really felt like “giving up” on her future.
The siblings went to Texas to get a hold of their lives and get help from Dr. Now. They have been updating their fans on social media and they were very excited to see them now.
Shantel and Carlton have been sharing more of their weight loss journey online and keeping their fans updated on social media. On Shantel’s newest Instagram post, she told fans that she was “living a new life with new beginnings.” She has started a new beauty line and it is on her Instagram account. She has almost 2,000 followers and she seems to be doing great.
Carlton is still living a healthy life, but fans haven’t really seen much of him on social media. His last post on Instagram was in 2020 and he did post on Facebook in 2021 for his 25th birthday. It looks as if he is engaged to his girlfriend whom we also saw on My 600-Lb Life.
We are so happy that these two have been keeping the weight off and living healthier lives. They have really made some great changes in their lives.
