Meghan Markle’s series finale of the “With Love, Meghan” Christmas special has been savaged by critics and royal fans, with the Duchess receiving a humiliating zero out of five stars.
Meghan’s Christmas Special Was “Pretentious” and “Looked Staged”
Royal News Network’s Brittany, who serves up compelling royal commentary, said the episode was “super boring.” In contrast, the Daily Mail’s reviewer, Annabel Fenwick Elliot, said,
“It’s the syrupy hypocrisy and our host’s deep lack of self-awareness that continue to make her and this show so unlikeable.”
She added,
“If only she could lean into her waspish, Type A personality, poke a little fun at herself, even she could just be about endearing, in a Monica from Friends sort of way.”
In the last show, she skips through a Christmas tree farm and mixes up a batch of chocolate with her rings on, which leads to bacteria. She has an insane need to keep her rings on while cooking.
She wore her uber-expensive Cartier love bracelet, Princess Diana’s watch, and her impressive stack of wedding bands.
Last week, the Duchess was called out for her unsanitary kitchen practices as she tends to keep all her jewelry on while handling food.
Brittany pointed out how pretentious it was and how staged everything looked. Prince Harry showed up at the end as he walked into the kitchen and was greeted by Meghan, who was making a pickled-veggie, black olive, anchovy, and fennel salad. He commented,
“That’s like the anti-salad.”
Meghan Fails to Integrate Her As Ever Products Into “With Love, Meghan”
Harry eats the gumbo Meghan makes for him. Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, shared the recipe with her daughter. Noticeably, Meghan refuses to share the recipe with her audience, which is seen as a mistake.
As the show progresses, you can see that Meghan has no original thoughts or creativity and copies everyone. She also doesn’t share how she’s making or cooking anything, as one would expect from a cooking show.
Meghan also fails to integrate her As Ever products into “With Love, Meghan,” a huge missed opportunity, actually, to make sales.
She shouldn’t have even bothered filming the show without her brand ready. It’s marketing 101. Meghan and her celeb friends also wore matching pajamas like twelve-year-olds during the episode.
The dismally received show also featured her and her guests making crafts. We watch them make wreaths.
Everyone leaves after wreath-making. It’s abysmal. Several critics compared the Christmas special to white noise.
Meghan Is Selling As Ever Chocolate
She also made homemade Christmas crackers, which were personalized with small trinkets for each member of her family.
Meghan also demonstrates her gift-wrapping skills, which have already been overdone on YouTube. The Duchess is about ten to fifteen years behind the times.
Also, in the poorly constructed episode, she repeatedly uses word salad and meaningless platitudes to describe everything. It all feels very fake and contrived.
In a mind-numbingly boring segment, she ices and decorates cookies, delivering the all-important message,
“Take care of yourself so you can take care of everyone else.”
Yawn.
Plus, now Meghan is selling chocolate through her As Ever line. Her chocolate launch is slated for December 4th.
Meghan Markle just goes to show that sometimes celebs are given a platform not because they are actually talented, but because of who they are.
