King Charles has confirmed that his cancer treatment will continue into next year, but it’s moving in a “very positive direction.”
The King recently visited a community event at Waltham Forest Town Hall in Walthamstow. When asked by a faith leader how he was doing, Charles responded with, “I’m still alive,” illustrating his dry sense of humor.
The King And The Princess Of Wales Were Both Diagnosed With Cancer
Camilla gave adorable teddy bears to community group citizens who will donate the stuffed animals to local children. King Charles and Queen Camilla also donated food to the local food bank.
Donating and giving are standard practices among royals around Christmastime, and the royal family has much to be thankful for. Shortly after Christmas last year, the royals faced a series of crushing blows, one after another.
King Charles was diagnosed with a benign prostate condition, followed by the announcement that the Princess of Wales would be undergoing abdominal surgery.
Days later, an incidental finding revealed that Charles had an unnamed form of cancer, which was announced in February.
In March, Kate Middleton made a video announcing her own cancer diagnosis. Her illness had, too, been an incidental finding.
“The family hadn’t even got through the first month of the year, and their lives were already turned upside down,”
A royal source exclaimed.
It had only been a little over a year since Queen Elizabeth II passed away. They were being hit hard on all fronts.
It was a shocker that brought the royal family closer and gave them a clear sense of purpose. The royal courtiers wanted to conceive a plan to support the King and reassure the nation.
“Operation Delphinium” Was Named After The King’s Favorite Flower
The project was dubbed “Operation Delphinium,” His Majesty’s favorite flower. The King led the group. It was a far cry from the century prior when the Queen’s father, King George VI, a heavy smoker, had not been told he was dying of lung cancer.
Charles’s main concern was, first and foremost, the people of the Commonwealth and to support those who may have been facing the same harrowing and unpredictable diagnosis.
It also concerned the royals, who would “steer the ship” while Charles and Kate recovered. Prince William would also be busy caring for his ailing wife and young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Meanwhile, the nation of Britain was in shock.
Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and others were indispensable to the King and the Princess during this “brutal year.” Even Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who are not working royals, stepped up for Kate in her absence.
Thankfully, the royal family has reached a positive outcome. In September, Princess Kate announced she had completed chemotherapy and was cancer-free. She’s now starting to return to public duties.
While not finished with treatment, the King is making strides, and according to his doctors, they are “pleased with his progress.”
This year looks full for Charles, who will visit the location of the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz Trips to Italy and Brazil are also on the agenda.
Once again, the royal household is a well-functioning hub of activity. The monarchy has survived despite grueling treatments, countless doctor visits, and collective uncertainty.
Through Adversity, The Royal Family Has Become Stronger
A royal source explains,
“Even when tweaks were made to his diary, it wasn’t because he was too sick, but simply his doctors advised that he needed to be careful in case his diminished immunity made him more vulnerable.”
The King also dealt with the loss of his beloved Jack Russell, Beth, but he and Camilla happily search for a new furry friend to add to their family and to give their other Jack Russell, Bluebell, a playmate. The King can’t wait to take the lucky pup out walking with him in the Highlands.
Not much has changed for his other son, Prince Harry. The King is deeply disappointed that Harry sold out his family for money and the press.
Harry is also trying to challenge the High Court’s decision to strip him of taxpayer-funded security when he visits Britain.
Harry believed his father’s influence could sway their ruling and somehow challenge a government decision. However, in truth, Charles can’t do that.
The King also fears that any conversation with the prince could be used against him in this or any one of Harry’s multiple court cases.
Aside from that, things are generally looking up for the royal family. This year, the king is hosting the most significant royal family Christmas in years at Sandringham, and forty-five royals are expected to join him.
The King and Queen genuinely seem happier this year than they did last year before the dual cancer diagnosis.
Maybe it’s true how they say,
“Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
