King Charles and Queen Camilla’s beloved Jack Russell terrier, Beth, has sadly passed away, and His and Her Majesty plan to adopt another furry friend from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home rescue.
King Charles And Camilla Want To Adopt Another Rescue Dog
Beth had an inoperable tumor, and her condition worsened very quickly, so the King and Queen made the difficult and heartbreaking decision to put Beth to sleep.
Camilla is said to be devastated about the death of their pet. His Majesty mentioned to television presenters Amanda Holden and Alan Carr at the Royal Variety Performance that the royal couple wanted to adopt another dog.
Camilla is a patron of Battersea, a world-famous rescue center in London. An ambassador for the rescue expressed his condolences for Beth,
“We mentioned Her Majesty, and we wished her well, and I gave condolences for the doggie.”
King Charles said they would soon adopt another pup. They are excited at the prospect of a new addition to the family. Highgrove, the King’s country estate in Gloucestershire, announced that they are unveiling new Christmas ornaments that include a likeness of Beth.
The ornament is wearing a red bandana and decorated with a crown. There is also an ornament of their other dog, Bluebell, wearing a crown.
The ornaments were placed on the tree at the estate’s shop before they knew that Beth was sick. Buckingham Palace shared the news about Beth on November 18th.
“A sad farewell to Beth, the Queen’s much-loved companion. From Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, who brought so much joy. Whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire,”
They said.
The royal family’s official Instagram account has a carousel of photos celebrating Beth’s life and a sweet video of Beth.
Beth And Bluebell Were Adopted From Battersea Dogs & Cats Home
King Charles and Camilla rescued Beth from Battersea after a family who could no longer care for her turned her into the rescue. She saw a photo of Beth, and it melted her heart. She didn’t hesitate to adopt the twelve-week-old pup.
However, poor Bluebell was dumped in London Park when she was only four weeks old. She was starving, shivering, and suffering from a skin condition that rendered her almost bald. Camilla felt love at first sight when she met these abandoned pets.
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home added,
“Her Majesty, our patron, rehomed Beth from Battersea in 2011, and we have many fond memories of Beth visiting our centers over the years.”
They continue,
“Our thoughts are with Their Majesties at this time. We know how difficult it is to lose a beloved pet, and Beth was very special indeed.”
Beth led a very charmed life, and she had quite the “tail,” complete with a happy ending when she was adopted by Charles and Camilla, who took her on her first chaffered drive to Balmoral weeks after being given to the rescue.
Camilla is a self-professed dog lover, and she paid tribute to her pets at the Coronation of the King when she wore a gown with her dogs embroidered on it. Beth was a good dog who brought incredible joy to her master’s lives and will be missed.
