The world was shocked to hear of actor Ray Liotta’s death on Thursday. The actor passed away in his sleep while in the Dominican Republic filming a new movie. He was just 67 years old. He left behind a catalog of amazing work, from gangster films to comedy and we wish his family well in these tough times.

Co-stars of Liotta’s have been pouring their hearts out for their dear friend, and Jennifer Lopez may have best described him in her touching tribute where she described him as a “tough guy who was all mushy on the inside.”

She shared photos of the two together with a touching caption about them together.

“Ray was my partner in crime on Shades of Blue … the first thing that comes to mind is he was so kind to my children. Ray was the epitome of a tough guy who was all mushy on the inside … I guess that’s what made him such a compelling actor to watch. The original Goodfella.”

Lopez continued in her caption that he was complicated but sincere, “We enjoyed doing our scenes together and I felt lucky to have him there to work with and learn from. Like all artists he was complicated, sincere, honest and so very emotional.” She finished it by saying, “We lost a great today … RIP RAY … it’s so sad to lose you what seems way to soon … I will remember you always. Sending so much love and strength to your daughter Karsen, your family and all your loved ones.”

While many of us never got to meet or work with Liotta, his films and performances will stay with us for generations. We’re thinking of his family and we hope he rests in peace. He was 67.
