Hugh Jackman has paid tribute to his father, Christopher Jackman after the X-Men star’s beloved dad passed away this past Sunday.
On what happened to be the day Australia celebrates Father’s Day, Jackman lost the man he calls “extraordinary”. He shared the devastating loss on Instagram with a photograph of his father. Accompanying the picture he wrote a touching post, saying, “In the early hours of Father’s Day (AU), my dad peacefully passed away. And whilst there is deep sadness, I am filled with such gratitude and love. My Dad was, in a word, extraordinary. He devoted his life to his family, his work and his faith.”

The Greatest Showman star continued, “I pray he is now at peace with God.”
Jackman’s huge fanbase sent messages of love and support in the wake the loss, including Jackman’s famous friends like Ryan Reynolds, who famously and hilariously “feuds” with Jackman regularly, but commented in all seriousness to the upsetting news, “I was lucky to have met him.”
Jackman has previously spoken extremely highly of the man who raised he and his siblings solo from when Hugh was only 8 years old. Jackman’s mother had left the family in Australia to return to her home of the UK.
Back in 2012 when speaking with 60 Minutes, the triple threat actor/singer/dancer described how much of a family man Christopher was, always enquiring about Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness before asking anything about his latest movie project.
Jackman also spoke of the advice his father gave him.
“My Father taught me to always keep my promises. Even if it turns out that there’s a better option or something that will benefit me more. Be true to your word.”
Reports from Hollywood always describe Hugh Jackman as one of the nicest celebrities you’ll meet so it seems Christopher did a wonderful job with raising his super successful son.
