‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers assert that much like Kelly Monaco’s exit from GH, Brandon Barash has been unceremoniously let go from Days Of Our Lives. Barash has confirmed that he will no longer play the role of Stefan DiMera.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Days’ Loss Could Be GH’s Gain
Eager soap fans think that Days’ loss could be GH’s gain. Once upon a time, Barash had a successful run as Johnny Zaccharra on the ABC sudser.
Barash played Johnny on GH from 2007 to 2016. In 2019, the actor took over the role of Stefan from the late Tyler Christopher. He also played the role of Stefan’s twin brother, Jake DiMera. He played on the soap on and off until October 28, 2024.
The timing is perfect for Johnny to return, as Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havens) is about to wake up from her four-year-long coma, thanks to Monaco’s heroine, Sam McCall, who’s about to die so that Lulu can live.
Lulu and Johnny had a lot of chemistry back in the day, and a new Lulu may have more sparks with Johnny instead of Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), who will indeed still be mourning the loss of Sam when Lulu awakens.
Dante will likely feel guilty that Sam had to die so that Lulu could live. It may even prevent Dante and Lulu from getting back together. Johnny’s return to the canvas could also throw a wrench in a “Lante” reunion.
The mob scene in Port Charles has been lacking excitement lately. Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) may have returned, but there isn’t much mafia drama, and we can imagine the trouble Johnny’s return would cause for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). The Zaccharra mafia family were heavy hitters back in the day.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Johnny’s Resurgence Would Trigger Mafia Rivalry
Johnny went to prison for murder at the end of his stint on GH. Fans may remember that Johnny took the fall for a crime Lulu committed. But it would be fun for him to resurrect his long-standing feud with Sonny after being released from prison.
Not only was Johnny romantically linked to Lulu, but he also had relationships with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), and Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero).
Johnny’s resurgence would trigger the old rivalry between the two mob families, and Johnny has so many romantic possibilities.
The only potential issue may be his former relationship with actress Kirsten Storms, who plays Maxie. Barash and Storms were married for three years, from 2013 to 2016, when he left the show.
The pair share a baby girl, whom they named Harper Rose Barash. There were several nasty rumors concerning how and why the couple split, but ultimately, they divorced amicably. They are currently healthy co-parents to their child and are said to be on “good terms.”
Storms shared on Maurice Benard’s podcast, “State Of Mind,” “Brandon has been there for me—a lot. At times, I’ve needed support, guidance, and help. He’s been there when people I’m close to or related to have not. So I’m thankful to him about a lot of things.”
No matter what, Barash would be a welcome addition to GH. Seeing him back as Johnny Zaccharra to spice up the soap would be fun.
