‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) may blackmail Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) by using Michael Corinthos’s (Rory Gibson) kids.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sidwell May Have Tried To Kill Sonny
We discovered in the June 19th episode of the soap that Sidwell bribed the judge in Michael and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) custody case to award custody of the children to Michael.
We had to stop and wonder why he would do that. As we all know, Sidwell wants control of Sonny’s piers.
We connected the dots and realized that Sidwell may decide to leverage Michael’s custody of Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko) to gain access to his territory.
Sidwell claims to want to end the mob violence in Port Charles, which he knows Sonny is partly responsible for. However, he may have been the one to try to kill Sonny twice, with the first attempt resulting in Michael almost being burned to death.
The bomb used to blow up Sonny’s penthouse was connected to the WSB somehow, and we think Sidwell may have friends in high places who could have planted the explosive.
We highly doubt Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) had anything to do with these hits on Sonny. He’s all sorts of shades of grey, but he’s not the type.
However, it would be very much in Sidwell’s wheelhouse to make use of a bomb to get what he wants.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Wants To Protect Port Charles From Sidwell
Sonny obviously isn’t budging on his decision to keep the piers and protect Port Charles from the likes of Sidwell. We know Sidwell didn’t bribe the judge out of the goodness of his heart.
Sidwell will ultimately either make Sonny privy to his deal with the judge or Sonny or his hitman, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), will find out about it and confront him and question his motives.
The new villain would inform Sonny that if he doesn’t start cooperating with him, he will expose the bribery, and Michael will lose his kids.
It would also be easy for someone as crafty as Sidwell to keep his hands clean by framing Sonny for bribing the judge and making her “disappear.
On some level, Sidwell may also feel guilty for Michael’s injuries since he was gunning for Sonny. That is if it turns out it was his idea to plant the bomb.
Sidwell seems to genuinely value the lives of children, as he told Sonny yesterday, “A man’s children are sacred,” and he wouldn’t want anything to happen to his son, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo). We somehow got the feeling he truly meant it.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: We Don’t Buy Sonny Is Sincere About Leaving The Mob
This brings us to our working theory. We don’t think Sonny will leave this business. He’s a mob boss and has been for decades, and he truly feels that he can’t keep his family safe without eliminating his enemies.
We’ve heard this song and dance from Sonny before, and nothing changes. It always ends up with his decision to remain in his position of power.
We thought perhaps his heart issue would lead to an exit strategy, but after that, he didn’t really mention it. Jason is the one who appears more invested in abandoning mob life.
Jason has repeatedly warned Sonny that they need to get out of the mob for the same reason. He wants his family to be safe.
Will Sonny cave and give Sidwell the piers to secure Michael having custody of his kids? If he really wants out of the mob, he’ll take the deal and relinquish the piers.
We don’t know what Sidwell intends to do with his territory. Still, the thinking behind Sonny’s uncanny ability to consistently escape legal consequences is tied to the fact that when people think of Sonny Corinthos, they see the lesser of two evils.
