'General Hospital' Spoilers: Whatever Happened to Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) On ABC's GH?

‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers find that a few months ago, Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) was one of the people in Port Charles who seemed to be having the most problems. He was getting a divorce from his wife Laura Webber (Genie Francis) because his serial killer twin brother, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) had locked him in the basement of a mental ward without food or water and had assumed his identity.

While Kevin Collins was in sheer misery as a prisoner at Ferncliff, Ryan Chamberlain was off living it up as a normal, successful, unassuming doctor whom no one suspected was actually a serial killer in disguise. However this article is not about Ryan, it’s about Kevin… and what he’s been up to lately.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Identity theft is no joke

So, while Ryan Chamberlain was living it up as an every day guy, he did something horrible to Kevin. He password protected his bank accounts, and did a lot of shenannigans to Kevin’s personal information that may or may not actually get sorted out. Even with the best of identity protection, Ryan had an in that most thieves don’t have, and that was his familial connection to Kevin.

Poor Kevin probably felt safe, and didn’t think that Ryan would ever think to commit such a treacherous crime as identity theft or personal fraud. He severely underestimated him in more ways than one. When your identity is stolen you have to basically do everything in your power to prove that you are the person in question in order to even get the right kind of documentation sent to you. So poor Kevin is probably off dealing with all of that.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: It’s a long road back

Besides the password protected emails and bank accounts and whatever other personal information that Ryan may have tampered with while he was free, there is also the fact of the matter that Ryan was still practicing medicine in Kevin’s stead while he was taken prisoner. So this means that any and all personal relationships with clients were compromised during Ryan’s reign of terror.

This probably lead to a lot of mea culpa’s on Kevin’s part, if not a few malpractice suits for any patience who may have experienced a compromised level of care while Ryan was in charge. Just because Ryan was trying to blend in doesn’t mean that he was a good person during his attempt – Kevin’s patients were probably subjected to whatever treatment that Ryan wanted to subject them to that day, not necessarily what the textbook recommends and some of Ryan’s methods could have been questionable, if not downright traumatic. That is, if he tried to see any of Kevin’s patients at all – he could have just dropped them with no explanation.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: How is Kevin’s health?

The last time we really saw Kevin, he had just been informed by Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) that he was pre-diabetic as a result of being kept without food and water for so long. Kevin’s probably having to walk a fine line with his health right now so that his condition doesn’t deteriorate into diabetes.

He’s probably had to implement some lifestyle changes, a healthy (and more regular) diet, along with a better sleep schedule, and probably the most difficult thing of all to do, cut down on the stress in his life. All of those factors can contribute to diabetes and since Kevin is already pre-diabetic, it wouldn’t take much to get him into the danger zone. So he’s probably off taking care of his health as well as any personal and professional things he might be having to take care of at the moment.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Is Kevin a ‘kept man’?

Poor Kevin, as if the blows to his professional and personal pride weren’t enough, Ryan did some potentially damaging things on the financial front as well. He was locked out of his bank account, we know that much, but while Ryan was in there we have no idea what he did.

Did he order a custom Bhugatti? Dating Ava Jerome (Maura West) couldn’t have been cheap, so he could have spoiled her a great deal, even going way beyond Kevin’s means in order to keep her happy. After all, it wasn’t his hard-earned money he was spending, nor was it his own life he was wrecking.

So he was free to be as fiscally irresponsible as he wanted and he personally wouldn’t have to pay the consequences – but Kevin would. And that’s some of what Kevin is probably doing, trying to get his financial ducks in a row after Ryan went through and slaughtered his good name.

If Kevin is indeed having to cut down on stress in his life then he could be looking into taking some time off of his practice, and that would mean that Laura would be bringing home the majority of the bacon in the marriage. I honestly don’t think Laura would mind, she’s a kind, helpful person and seems to love Kevin with an all-encompassing love (she stuck by him, even though he put everyone in danger by unleashing Ryan), so I’m sure, for right now, Laura doesn’t mind being the breadwinner if that is indeed the case. It might serve to hurt Kevin’s pride though… and let’s face it, that’s taken enough of a beating.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: So when will we see him again?

Kevin seems to be a good egg with a sensible head on his shoulders. I think we will see him again off and on, I just don’t think it will be that soon. After all, he’s got a lot to come back from and usually someone’s day-to-day struggle isn’t all that interesting. It’s not like he’s fighting mob bosses or coming up against international terrorists, he’s simply fighting a war of reputation right now and those, while time consuming and arduous, aren’t all that interesting. However, if there’s one story that I could see him being involved in, it’s Bobbie Spencer’s (Jacklyn Zeman).

Bobbie was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and since Kevin is pre-diabetic himself I could see them giving each other moral support and maybe even lifestyle tips on their new, modified lifestyles. Or maybe, Bobbie is having a hard time adjusting to these new lifestyle changes and perhaps books an appointment with Kevin to talk about her feelings on the matter.

It would definitely be an interesting thing to see an honest and open discussion about how the victims of this horrendous disease actually feel about being diagnosed, and not just spewing random ‘medically accurate’ facts that, while educating the public do nothing for actual insight. Hey, just a thought! Looks like we’ll have to stay tuned!!!
