‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal that in the January 26th episode of GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) overheard Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) tell WSB director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) that he’s supposedly “only seeing Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) because he’s trying to get dirt on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jack Has Only Opened His Heart to One Woman: Carly Spencer
I can say with almost 100 percent certainty that this is a lie. Ironically, before I saw the interview in Soap Opera Digest where Chris McKenna dished to the outlet and flat-out told them that Jack was lying, I had these words already typed.
Truthfully, GH fans seem to want him to be guilty. Viewers never really gave Chris McKenna a fair chance. Charles Mesure, the first Brennan, vacated the role last year at this time, and when the show made Chris McKenna his replacement, many fans were very unkind to the new actor.
“He has no chemistry with Carly. The new actor doesn’t play the role as well as Measure. He doesn’t have an Austrialian accent.” etc., etc. Much of the audience pretty much gave poor Chris McKenna one day to prove himself and decided, meh.
That said, I enjoy McKenna’s unique spin on Jack Brennan. I also believe that Jack truly loves Carly. However, Brennan is a WSB agent.
He’s the head of the organization. That means that he deceives people for a living, but his love for Carly is his kryptonite.
Jack hasn’t opened his heart to any other woman other than Carly in a long time. I suspect he was trying to throw Director Cullum off when he claimed he was only using Carly. It’s perhaps the biggest lie he’s ever told.
Remember when Carly drank the poisoned champagne and had polonium poisoning? I recall when he sat by her hospital bed and said that Carly “had his heart.”
McKenna’s point was that when Carly suffered from the poisoning and was fighting for his life, Jack’s concern for Carly was evident, and he basically laid his soul bare when no one was around.

Brennan’s deep feelings for Carly are genuine. He confirmed Jack’s commitment to Carly with SOD, “When he talks at her bedside, Jack’s hardened exterior starts to crumble even further. You see parts of Jack you haven’t seen before.”
The actor wasn’t surprised that the scene in which Brennan told Cullum he was using Carly sparked so much debate on social media about whether Jack was telling Director Cullum the truth.
Many viewers opposed to the pairing have said Jack is a snake who can’t be trusted. However, there are still some Jack/Carly supporters who are hanging on by a thread.
They have hope that the pair finds a way to overcome Jack’s severe error in judgment. Unfortunately, the odds don’t look favorable. Brennan messed up big time here. He may not earn Carly’s forgiveness.
After all, Jack recruited Carly’s daughter, Josslyn, into the WSB. He has looked into Carly’s eyes and lied to her about her child. How would Carly know that he’s telling her the truth about how he feels about her?
Plus, Carly and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) have joined forced to take Jack down. Oddly enough, the idea of Carly playing him is something Jack wouldn’t even consider.
I can say with confidence that this man adores Carly. It’s easy to tell by the way he looks at her like she’s the most precious treasure in the world to him.
The amount of fans rooting for this couple to survive this mess is slim to none, but personally, I am rooting for them to find their way back to each other.
