‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are happy the second part of the tribute special for Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) was better done than the first, but it still left a lot hanging.
The end product makes a great case for the replacement writers to have stayed and been allowed to write this instead of the beleaguered crew fans haven’t been happy with for a long time.
Because of that, we didn’t expect too much as it was evident the show was intent on cramming roughly two weeks or more of storylines into two hours worth of episodes and didn’t do the human trafficking angle justice.
It came across more like a prop to give Bobbie and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright)’s ending more meaning rather than draw attention to the serious issues plaguing the world.
But the special ended on a high note with Carly renaming Kelly’s Bobbie’s and Angela Brighton (Brighton Hertford) revealing herself to be the spirit of Barbara Jean “BJ” Jones.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Was renaming Kelly’s the right move?
While ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers understand why the show renamed Kelly’s to Bobbie’s, there’s a definite possibility it’ll set off a good number of fans.
Not only has it been named Kelly’s since the beginning and is practically Port Charles’ version of the Horton Square from ‘Days of Our Lives’, renaming things in tribute has been done a million times in just about every show.
It’s a cool thing to do, but we think they would’ve been better adding a plaque to Bobbie on the wall so every time someone enters they’d see her and could read about her.
Of course, as much as we suspect Bobbie wouldn’t want the change to be made, the writers would have her go along with the name change and accept is as a great honor and the name of Kelly’s will be lost to soap historians.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – BJ’s back
In what was easily the best moment of the two part special was having BJ’s spirit visiting Port Charles.
It was a great way to end it as everyone she talked to realized she wasn’t a reporter and was there to help guide them and comfort them in some way.
We think it was a really cool nod to the character and even better that they had the original actress play the part.
When we look at all the flashbacks with Bobbie in this one it really came together in that regard and it ended things well.
What’s really cool is we may see BJ around more as a guardian angel since she said she’d be around, and that could add some cool wrinkles to the storylines.
