‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that John J. York, who plays Mac Scorpio, will soon return to the GH canvas. In September, York shared with his social media followers that he had been diagnosed with two forms of cancer, myelodysplastic syndromes and multiple smoldering myeloma.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: York Had a Stem Cell Transplant
These cancers are bone marrow disorders, and he had a stem cell transplant. York underwent three bone biopsies and had chemotherapy to combat the cancer.
On Instagram, York was recently seen wearing a t-shirt that said, “Mac is back!” It’s a definite indicator that York will soon reprise his role as Mac Scorpio.
In December 2023, York gave an update about his condition, saying that he knew he had a long road ahead of him but that treatment was “going very well.”
He also said that he would be back in late spring. York will return to have a storyline that’s been long anticipated. At some point, he could learn that Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is his son with Dominque Baldwin (Shell Danielson).
The story has been building for over two years, and it’s time that Mac finds out that Cody is his son. Cody lied to Mac about not being his son and regretted his decision to keep this secret from him.
Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) helped him by switching the hair in his hairbrush when they were both on the Home & Heart show.
She knew that Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) would obtain some of Cody’s hair to test his DNA and prove that Cody was Mac’s son.
Felicia had learned from Robert Scorpio (Tristian Rogers) that Cody wanted Leopold Taub’s (Chip Lucia) necklace. The stunning piece of jewelry was adorned with diamonds from the Ice Princess.

Cody knew he could sell the necklace for a pretty penny and claimed it was his birthright. Cody fibbed and said that Leopold was his father.
Unfortunately for Cody, the necklace was allegedly destroyed in a fire. Kelly explained to Soap Opera Digest that Cody wanted the necklace because of the money and wanted.
“Something of importance that would make him feel important. He’s never really felt like he had anything of his own.”
Cody is a complicated character because he believes he isn’t meant to have a good life. His motives are mixed, but he’s turned a corner with Sasha. She’s brought out the best in him, and he stepped up for her when she needed someone the most.
The question remains: how will Mac react when Cody tells him the shocking truth? He will likely be hurt and angry, but he will eventually come to accept his son and love him.
York has had meaty storylines to play before. When his niece, Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough), contracted HIV from her then-boyfriend, Stone Cates (Michael Sutton), and he eventually died, York stepped up his game considerably.
York played Mac as the loving and supportive father figure that Robin was missing in her life.
It is exciting that York is coming back to GH. We can’t wait to see how he plays Mac when he finds out that Cody is his son.
