‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that fans have been missing Kelly Monaco since the soap killed off her character, Sam McCall.
Sam was a core character and a longtime vet who played on GH for twenty-one years, which is why her tragic exit was so shocking.

Monaco joined the cast in October 2003, and her character became half of the popular super couple, “JaSam,” or Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall.
Sam was killed off the soap in November 2024 after she donated part of her liver to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) and was given a fatal dose of Digitalis by the deranged Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Many fans signed petitions and protested outside the GH studio to try to coerce the powers- that- be to rehire Monaco.
They even managed to get a billboard up in Times Square in New York City. The billboard was also an attempt to get Sam back on the show.
It read,
“I Stand with Kelly. Rehire Kelly Monaco on ABC’s General Hospital.”
Unfortunately, fans of Kelly and Sam didn’t achieve the outcome they’d hoped for. Since leaving GH, fans have wanted to see Monaco show up on another soap or perhaps a primetime series.
Some viewers wonder if Monaco could have been “blackballed,” which means excluded from a career path, possibly the entertainment industry. However, there has been no confirmation on that either way.
It’s peculiar that no soap or show has yet to snatch up such an incredible talent like Monaco. She would add interest to any show she played on.

However, there is good news for Kelly’s numerous legions of fans. She’s starting a podcast with her longtime friend, Shanna Moakler, for a show called “Bad Bunnies.”
It’s a wink and nod to their time as Playboy Bunnies. Monaco was a playboy playmate in April 1997, while Moakler was one in December 2001.
Monaco took to Instagram to share news about her new joint project. Her description of the show was, “Unfiltered. Untamed. Unapologetic. We’re bringing you Hollywood secrets, wild stories, pop culture tea, and real talk-nothing is off-limits!”
Kelly wants to give the listeners what they want, “Before we drop our first episode, we want to hear from YOU! What topics do you want us to spill on? Reality TV chaos? Dating disasters? Hollywood drama?” She’s asking everyone for suggestions.
Of course, fans want Monaco to speak out about what happened behind the scenes at GH that led to her firing. Kelly promised to tell her fans what happened. The actress called her firing “retaliation at its finest.”
The way she exited the show was heartbreaking, and what’s worse is that it felt permanent as if Sam could never return.
Many soap viewers still hold out hope that Kelly will appear on another daytime drama. She could be a long-lost DiMera on Days of Our Lives or even a new, intriguing love interest for EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).
She could reunite with Jason Thompson on The Young and the Restless. Thompson and Monaco were paired on GH when he played Patrick Drake.
