‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers is saying that we are not gonne speak for ourself here and risk having an unpopular opinion but, with all due respect to Tamara Braun, who just recently exited ‘General Hospital’, I for one, we will not miss Dr. Kim Nero. Again, this is not a slam to Braun, who did the best she could with what she was given to work with, but Kim was a terrible, almost fatally flawed character.
When Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt) was around, she played a good Mom part. But ever since Oscar died, as a character she has lost her way. At first it was to be expected because she just watched her only son battle a long illness and die as a result. That’s going to screw a person up. But the thing is, Kim never bothered to move past it. She told Drew Cain (the real Drew Cain, played by Billy Miller) that she wanted another baby but he thought that maybe now wasn’t the time. Kim proceeded to abuse her powers as a medical professional, drug him, and attempt to make a baby with him anyway! It wasn’t even romantic it was just botched and incredibly awkward.

Then this whole… weird thing… with Frankendrew. First off, she violated the rules of feminism, and got with her best friend’s man. Yes he had the memories of her ex and, even I will admit, talked a smooth game. As vulnerable as Kim was it would have been hard to resist a former lover coming to her in her time of need an practically dangling himself over her like a proverbial carrot to a starving bunny. But… this played out all wrong. Instead of a sweet reunion of souls we got a lot of heartache for Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst), and a shiny new teenage guilt complex for Cameron Webber (William Lipton).
Not to mention the heartache she caused for poor Julian Jerome (William deVry)! They made such a sweet couple in the beginning, yes they definitely had their problems but the relationship wasn’t totally bad. However whenever ‘Drew’ would come on the scene, Kim would conveniently forget that poor Julian existed. Then she totally betrayed his trust by drugging Drew. And can we just talk about her reaction when she found out someone had informed Frankendrew of this? She thought it was Julian and slapped the living daylights out of him!!! So much for loving the guy.
So yeah… I’m not really going to miss having Dr. Kim Nero around. She hasn’t endeared herself to any of the Port Charles residents since Oscar died. She’s consistently handled her grief badly and refused to make any effort to move on. Grief counseling? What grief counseling? Therapy? What therapy? If there was any, I never saw any. Not that everyone needs therapy for grief, but she went through a long, traumatic grieving period with Oscar and she should have gotten help by now. As a medical professional, she should have known that. Maybe she’ll find some peace in the place that she moves to, or maybe she’ll just go wreak havoc somewhere else, either way… so long, Kim! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
