‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) are the most offensive soap couple ever.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Forbidden Kiss Came Out Of Nowhere
There are several reasons for this. First and foremost, that forbidden kiss came out of nowhere. While the vibe between Drew and Willow has shifted since they started working together, how did it go from an almost father-daughter-type connection to a full-blown mutual attraction?
Drew may have played a role in saving her life, but the main reason why Willow survived her leukemia beyond science and medicine is that she loves Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and her kids.
Soaps make us suspend our disbelief, but are we supposed to believe Willow would throw away what she has with Michael for a bit of tonsil hockey with Drew in the Quartermaine living room?
That being said, some fans have voiced their opinion that Michael and Willow are a snoozefest. This latest stunt GH has pulled almost seems like a way to spice up Willow’s character and appease the viewers who feel that Michael and Willow are like watching paint dry.
Another reason this sudden storyline is too contrived is that we don’t need a triangle involving Willow, Drew, and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Nina and Willow are finally getting along.
After years of animosity, and trying and failing to develop a bond, they are finally coming together and acting like mother and daughter.
Nina is sleeping with Drew, and if he beds Willow, the situation could get messy. While this is undoubtedly very soapy, it’s also unlike GH to destroy its characters, which has been happening a lot lately. That’s why many fans are tuning out.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Drew Is Old Enough To Be Willow’s Father
Many fans have been enjoying the steamy hookups between Drew and Nina, allowing Drew to shed his good guy persona and become interesting.
However, Drew kissing Willow is way too sleazy a move for someone like Drew, who is Michael’s uncle. Perhaps he is the perfect politician.
Willow may have cheated on Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), but she only agreed to marry him because she thought he was dying; however, she was always in love with Michael. Willow isn’t the type to cheat on her spouse when she’s one-half of a happy couple, complete with children and a family.
The other ick factor is the age difference between Drew and Willow, which contributes to the father-daughter feel of Drew and Willow’s relationship and has some viewers losing their lunch over their adulterous kiss.
Drew is old enough to be Willow’s father. It might have made more sense when Billy Miller played the role, but with Cameron’s version of Drew, he comes off more like a father figure to Willow than a love interest.
The scenes between Drew and Nina, in which she slaps him for kissing her daughter, are also odd because, after the slap, Nina appears to buy into Drew’s lame promise that he wouldn’t pursue Willow.
We know this gross relationship will likely go further because it’s a soap, and the idea of a mother-daughter triangle is too juicy to ignore. Hopefully, GH will listen to viewers who say, “Yuck!”
