Elizabeth Hurley told her fans that her ‘heart aches’ after she was physically unable to attend the funeral for her ex-fiancé, Shane Warne, this last weekend. Warne was laid to rest in Australia in a private ceremony that around 80 guests attended, including his friends, family and former cricket teammates.

Unfortunately, Hurley was in London due to film commitments and due to the time difference would not be able to make it to the funeral. She wrote:

“My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral. I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there.

She shared a few photos of their engagement in Sri Lanka and spoke about how it was such a happy time,

These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement- we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time. It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna ❤️”

Elizabeth and Shane were engaged between September 2011 and December 2013 before having to split.

He was a professional cricket player and began in the early 90s’, before going on to be considered one of the greats of the sport. In 1999, he was the joint-leading wicket-taker as Australia won the tournament, and finished with 293 one-day dismissals in 194 matches.

Sadly, Shane died earlier this month at the age of 52 following a suspected heart attack.

A state memorial in his honor will be held at Melbourne Cricket Ground at the end of the month and the event will be open to members of the public.

We wish the best to his friends and family, and may he rest in peace.
