‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers suggest that Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) and Cat Greene’s (AnnaLynn McCord) passionate goodbye kiss should have been real.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: DOOL Tricked Chad and Chad Shippers
I know I am likely in the minority here, but when DOOL spoilers teased that Chad and Cat would share a steamy smooch in Horton Square, I was floored.
Personally, I was a huge supporter of Chad and Cat’s romance, despite all the fan backlash and fury over Cat impersonating Chad’s late wife, Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller).
Once we learned the truth about Cat’s motivations, some of us forgave her, but others held a grudge. Cat was forced to pretend to be Abigail to trick Chad out of the DiMera fortune.
Of course, the person who’s responsible for that insane debacle was none other than Clyde Weston (James Read). Cat genuinely had feelings for Chad, but when he discovered she was an imposter, he was disgusted by her.
It took some time, but Chad eventually forgave Cat. I noticed that they seemed to enjoy each other’s company, and there were sparks.
Then again, many viewers felt that Chad and Cat lacked any true chemistry. However, I strongly disagree.
First, I think Billy Flynn would have chemistry with a watermelon. He’s got that unique mix of leading man energy and boyish charm. Not to mention, his beautiful blue eyes.
That aside, Chad and Cat had a connection. They had also worked through Cat’s deception and found common ground.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Jennifer Threatened to Sue Chad for Custody of His Children
Once it became evident that Chad and Cat were dancing around their desire for each other, DOOL set up a nice slow-burn.
I enjoyed the ride. Sadly, it ended when busybody Jennifer Horton Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) stuck her nose where it didn’t belong. Yes, Jennifer is Abigail’s mother, but it was still none of her business.
Jennifer became increasingly judgmental, hypocritical, nasty, and generally unlikable. After she found out that Chad and Cat were dating, she threatened to sue Chad for custody of his children. Once that happened, the soap ruined her character.
I won’t even get into the incident in which Chad’s son, Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher), angrily ran off into traffic and was hit by a car. Or Julie Williams‘ (Susan Seaforth Hayes) endless disapproval of Cat.
And ditto for Jack Deveraux’s (Matthew Ashford) shockingly uncharacteristic behavior toward Chad during the whole sordid mess.
If I had to explain and list examples of the Horton family’s hypocrisy and holier-than-thou attitude, we’d be here all day. Oh, except when it comes to one of their own. Then the Hortons are somehow capable of forgiveness.
The recent mediation, in which Chad, Jennifer, and Jack came together to sing Kumbaya before a judge, was nauseating, espically after the crap Jennifer tried to pull.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Cat Had a Fantasy of Chad Kissing Her
At first, I had high hopes when Chad wisely brought up Jennifer’s colorful history with pain pills. Jennifer had been addicted to painkillers after Abigail was tragically murdered.
She even drove her car while she was high on pills and accidentally hit Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) and got away with it.
The kicker is that, since Jennifer judges everyone, she treats Gwen like a pariah instead of being grateful that Gwen never pressed charges.
That said, I had hoped Chad would nail Jennifer to the wall, but he’s far too kind and too good a man to do that. Instead, he backed down from the fight and let Jennifer dictate whom he could and could not date.
So, today I thought I was getting a bold, romantic kiss between Chad and Cat after he told her he was leaving town. Instead, the writers cheated me and let the kiss be a figment of Cat’s imagination. Talk about crushing disappointment.
It’s obvious that Cat will be paired with Chad’s brother, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). The two are set to share their first kiss soon. Now, I adore EJ, to pieces, especially with Dan in the role. EJ is one of the best characters on DOOL thanks to him.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Billy Flynn Isn’t Quite Done with Salem Yet
However, I was really looking forward to Chad letting himself give in and for one moment, not care about Jennifer’s or anyone else’s opinion.
Instead, what happened was a slap in the face. Needless to say, I am very sad that Billy Flynn will soon no longer be on our screens playing Chad DiMera. Conner Floyd is set to start airing as Chad in April.
Spoilers reveal that Billy Flynn isn’t quite done in Salem yet. SheKnows reported earlier today that he will be back before his actual exit.
However, I had to express my frustration and dissatisfaction with the writers for ruining Chad and Cat’s last kiss by turning it into Cat’s daydream.
While Chad and Cat fans may be few and far between, it would have been nice for those of us who were actually rooting for them to overcome the naysayers to be given the small gift of seeing them kiss one more time. It would have been very much appreciated.
