‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Kristian Alfonso, who plays Hope Williams Brady, recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest about her return to Days and Bo Brady’s (Peter Reckell) miraculous awakening from his two-year coma.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Bo And Hope’s Epic Love Story Began In 1983
Alfonso has returned to her Days family to help honor the death of a significant character and an iconic actor, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), and simultaneously reunite with the love of her life, Bo, as he emerges from his coma.
Alfonso’s return is bittersweet, as when she arrived back on the canvas, Hogestyn was battling pancreatic cancer and died in real life shortly after Days filmed his tragic demise.
On a much happier note, Hope has Bo back, which wouldn’t have been possible without John’s heroic efforts.
Bo and Hope’s epic love story began in 1983 when Alfonso started her daytime career on Days. Hope had flirted with Bo for months until she finally asked him to be her date for her 18th birthday party.
The pair shared their first dance to the song “Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You.” Unfortunately, when Bo tried to give her a gift —a book of classic poetry —Hope dismissed his sweet gesture.
Bo stormed out, but Hope followed him and caught up with him at Bo’s apartment, where Bo admitted to her that he loved her.
In 1984, Bo pretended to be in a relationship with someone else to protect Hope from the Salem Slasher. Hope almost married someone else, but Bo arrived at the church just in time to stop her.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Couple Married In Lavish Storybook Wedding In England In 1985
Along the way, Bo and Hope had many grand adventures. They set off to New Orleans to locate a stolen prism, and during the trip, they consummated their relationship.
They also survived Hope being brainwashed by Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo) into believing she was Princess Gina, and Bo was presumed dead on a few occasions.
In 1985, Bo and Hope had their unforgettable fairytale wedding, and much of it was shot on location in England. Those were the days when soaps could afford to shoot in various other countries, islands, etc.
Bo and Hope’s wedding was regarded as one of the most expensive soap weddings in history. In 1987, their son, Shawn Douglas Brady (played by Brandon Beemer), was born. Their daughter, Ciara Brady (played by Victoria Konefal), was born in 2006.

Later, Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson) took control of Bo’s body with the help of Dr. Wilhem Rolf (Richard Wharton). He was able to keep Bo in a state of existence and cure his ailments.
When he woke up, Bo wasn’t himself as he was suffering due to Meghan’s brainwashing. Bo thought he had to kill Hope, but Hope was able to make him remember their love story.
He issued a heartfelt “Fancy Face,” but Shawn thought Bo was going to harm his mother, and he shot Bo, which is how he ended up in a coma.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: John’s Heroic Act To Save Bo Led To His Tragic Demise
Thankfully, John Black retrieved a miracle cure for Bo, Versavix, and saved Bo’s life. Sadly, John’s life ended due to his selflessness and heroic act.
Bo awoke to a vastly different world, as several of Bo’s loved ones died while he was comatose, and he was crushed.

However, Bo was thrilled to see his “Fancy Face” by his side when he woke up. Bo’s long-overdue awakening is also a miracle for his children, Shawn and Ciara.
May 2025 saw Bo and Hope’s 40th wedding anniversary. They are considered one of soap opera’s most beloved supercouples in soap history.
Alfonso told Soap Opera Digest that it was difficult to end Bo and Hope’s story as it did and have him in a coma. “I think this writing regime has done an incredible job of finding a way to get him to wake up,” she exclaimed.
Alfonso promises the viewers that several events will take place over the next couple of weeks. “There’s going to be a lot of excitement, it’s going down memory lane, and its storylines that pull at the heartstrings. So have your tissues ready!”
