Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) may be suffering from the worst case of postpartum depression ever.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Sophia Wanted Nothing To Do With Her Child
In the October 21st episode of DOOL, Sarah Horton Kiriakis (Linsey Godfrey) consulted with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) about Sophia’s condition.
In Marlena’s professional opinion, Sophia suffered from a psychotic breakdown. Sarah had also been concerned that there might be some postpartum issues, and we’re wondering the same.
The minute Sophia gave birth to her baby boy, she wanted to give him up. She didn’t bond with him or spend time with him.

She had a very traumatic experience when she gave birth alone in her room, then left the baby at the Safe Haven drop at the fire station.
Sophia wanted nothing to do with her child. Some would call it cold, yet there are some symptoms of postpartum that fit the bill with some of Sophia’s erratic behavior.
Sophia also experienced feelings of extreme rage. She lied to Tate Black (Leo Howard), targeted Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), and Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis).

She devised a very dangerous and elaborate scheme that almost ended with Holly being killed in a fire at her college dorm.
While many fans believe that Sophia’s behavior is attributed to recklessness and sociopathic tendencies, we think something deeper may be in play here.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Sophia May Not Remember Everything
Additionally, Sophia seemed genuinely shocked when Sarah told her that Tate was not Tesoro’s father. We are wondering if maybe Sophia was raped or possibly abused by someone in her family.
She could have blacked out and not remember what really happened. The biggest factor involved, though, was her inability to bond with her newborn baby.
Many mothers have suffered from postpartum, and that may very well be the case with Sophia. We’re not excusing her behavior, but there has to be more to the story.

Interestingly, Holly and Tate recently admitted that their treatment of Sophia may have contributed to some of her actions.
Sophia clearly needs help and treatment. She definitely has a mental health issue, and we wonder if the soap is planning a postpartum story.
Otherwise, Sophia simply may have lost it and been unable or unwilling to face the many people affected by her actions.

It would be a wise idea for the soap to delve deeper into what exactly is going on with Sophia, and not simply make her a stereotypical teen soap villain.
We really don’t need another Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) in Salem. Besides, it would be a shame to lose Rachel Boyd if this is the end of the line for her.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Rachel Boyd Has Proven Herself As A Powerhouse Actress
Boyd has proven herself as a powerhouse actress and a major asset to the show. Her performance earlier this week was masterful and beautifully done.
Also, when Boyd portrayed Sophia giving birth in her room, she delivered a heartbreaking, tour-de-force performance.

Boyd can handle the hard stuff, as Sophia was being confronted in the October 20th episode of DOOL. Boyd perfectly balanced Sophia’s vulnerability mixed with terror.
She simultaneously demonstrated her belief in her choices. Boyd played into the moment and commanded the room.
Boyd accomplished something a lesser actress wouldn’t be able to: she made us feel compassion for Sophia.

The one telling piece of evidence that Sophia isn’t a monster is the emotional goodbye letter she wrote to her son.
Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) read “Little T” the letter shortly after Sophia left him at the fire station.
While many fans may not agree, we feel for Sophia. She’s a scared, traumatized teenager who went through an incredibly painful ordeal that shook her to her very core.
