Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate that Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) may be able to help Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) recover her memories and eventually free Kristen DiMera (Stacey Haiduk) from Statesville prison.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: EJ Won’t Allow His Son To Take The Fall
In the August 21st episode of Days, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerreigel) and Kristen argued about what to do about Rachel.
Kristen begged EJ for more time, but since the jury was already deliberating, there was no time left. He tried to convince his “dear sister” that it was best if they came forward with the truth.
EJ wanted to tell the court that Rachel shot him by accident. Kristen reminded EJ that Marlena had explained that Rachel was suffering from dissociative amnesia.
Kristen’s daughter blocked the memory of accidentally shooting her uncle because it was too raw and painful.
EJ suggested to Kristen that she lie and pin the crime on a sacrificial lamb. As long as it wasn’t his son, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), he was fine with her claiming to suddenly “remember” who shot him.
Kristen was appalled at the idea, but EJ insisted it was the only way to protect both their children. Rachel tricked Marlena into thinking that her snake had escaped its cage.
Once Marlena’s back was turned to search for the “missing” reptile, Rachel ran downstairs to ask if Kristen and EJ were keeping a secret from her.
Rachel wanted to know whether her testimony on the stand made EJ angry with her. She has been worried about Johnny going to prison.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Rachel Will Be Horrified When Her Mom Goes To Prison
The pair assured the child that she didn’t do anything wrong. The soap ended with Belle Black (Martha Madison) messaging her mom to let her know that the jury had reached a verdict.
We think it’s going to be a guilty verdict, and Kristen bursts into the courtroom to confess before EJ admits to the court that the shooter was his own niece.
There is no doubt Kristen is headed to prison. However, Marlena is a renowned psychiatrist, and if anyone can break through Rachel’s trauma, it’s Marlena.
Rachel will be horrified when her mom goes to prison. She won’t understand, since Kristen promised her that she didn’t shoot EJ.
Kristen’s imprisonment may be the key to unlocking Rachel’s memories about the night of the shooting. However it happens, Rachel desperately needs therapy.
Marlena may be able to help her granddaughter, and it seems likely that she’ll also become Rachel’s primary guardian during this difficult time.
Rachel lived with Marlena before, and it was the only time in the ten-year-old’s life when she was stable. Kristen seems to allow Rachel to exhibit poor behavior and get away with mischief.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Marlena May Have Taken A Leave Of Absence From The Hospital To Try To Fix Rachel
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is also the more responsible parent. He is a much better influence on Rachel than Kristen.
This trip won’t be Kristen’s first stint in prison, either. Rachel will be distraught to lose even more time with her mother.
That said, Kristen going to prison to protect Rachel is the ultimate maternal sacrifice. It will give Rachel a chance to work with Marlena, to remember the truth, and to heal from the trauma of the incident.
It’s also interesting that Marlena has taken a leave of absence from the hospital. She may have done that so that she can spend time with Rachel and try to help her through her trauma.
Marlena’s stable presence and professional and loving guidance may save Rachel from perpetuating the toxic pattern that rules the DiMera family.
We have to wonder what happens when the truth about EJ’s shooting is finally revealed and Kristen is a free woman. Inevitably, the truth will come out, and when it does, it will rock Salem to its core.
