After slapping Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars, Will Smith won’t be able to attend the show for a decade, however, according to comedian David Spade, that doesn’t seem like a big deal. Spade seems to be okay with the punishment, explaining that the Oscar people had to do something.

In his eyes, not being able to attend the ceremony doesn’t really come off as a big consequence, and if Will can still act and do movies, who really cares?

Spade also revealed that he had talked to his longtime buddy Chris Rock but wouldn’t disclose what he had to say about the situation, respecting his privacy. However, it seems like most Americans would agree with David, and that the Oscar ban isn’t a big deal at all.

Smith will continue to make films, act, and make his money, he just won’t be at the ceremony where they give out awards. As for the consequences, it seems to be comparable to what he did. However, Chris Rock declined to press charges for the slap. We wonder what he will have to say about it.

Rock revealed that he wouldn’t be talking about the event until after he was paid for the show.

On the other hand, Smith is still eligible to be nominated and win Oscars during his 10-year ban, just can’t attend the party… Is that really a consequence?

What do you think? Should Rock have pressed charges and is Smith’s 10-year ban really that big of a deal? Let us know in the comments below.
