The comedian, as well as the headlines in general, has been inundated with mass criticism towards Will’s conduct. While the majority of people would agree with that, the very fact of the matter is that the incident has become so talked-about that Chris has had to continually address it.
But now it seems that he wants to draw a line in the sand and move forward. A source said: “He literally only addressed it as the the crowd was going wild for his surprise appearance, and he got on stage and said, ‘Lower your expectations. I’m not going to address that s–t.’”
These comments are very significant for the following reasons. First of all, it is clear that Chris would be able to capitalise off the incident at some point by expanding upon his band. Therefore, in what appeared to be one of the most embarrassing moments of the comedian’s career could ultimately elevate his career to the next level.
Secondly, given that the incident is still very much fresh in the memory, he will want to take his time before he comes out with a proper statement. In some prior comments, he remarked: “I had a whole show before this weekend. I’m still processing…but right now I’m going to tell some jokes.”
The fans were in full agreement with Chris’ comments. People were of the view that he did not need to risk his career by commenting on a story, which could come back to haunt him should he slip up.
Not only that, but with his fame skyrocketing ever since the incident, there was plenty for him to be happy about. One fan wrote: “He’s smart to know that silence reinforces the image of a victim.”
