For someone who has been trying to perfect her English accent her entire life, María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza, professionally known by her stage name Charo says she just can’t understand why someone would pretend to have a fake Spanish accent when they speak English perfectly.

After she was outted by an anonymous Twitter user, Hilaria was forced to admit that her real name is actually Hilary and not Hilaria and that she was born in Boston and not in Mallorca, as was previously reported.
Charo told Page Six in an interview that she simply didn’t understand why Hilaria was so “obsessed” with having a Spanish accent. She told the outlet, “I spend all my life trying to speak English like you. I hoped to [be] a sophisticated American and I was born in Murcia, Spain, where they have a very strong Castilian accent.”
“That’s Hilaria’s obsession, probably,” Charo thought. “I want to speak the best English because after so many years in America nobody knows what the hell I’m talking about.”
“In the case of Hilaria, she must be [so] obsessed with everything Spanish — the tradition, flamenco — that she really went into that education and she managed to do it very well indeed,” Charo mused.
Comedian Amy Schumer also had a very interesting reaction to Hilaria’s controversy as well.
“Oh my god, I really don’t even know what to say. I didn’t know that was going to happen, obviously,” Amy told ET Online in an interview this week. “I feel like it was so insane and entertaining that I think Hilaria is probably the only person who is happy about the insurrection in the Capitol, because it distracted [people] from that.”
