British Royal Family News: ‘Lilibet’ Expected To Be Number One Baby Name In The U.S.

According to reports, royal staffers have been told to brace for a “big uptick” in Americans using Queen Elizabeth’s nickname. In fact, Lilibet could become a new favorite for baby names in the next few years, thanks to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s massive influence on both sides of the pond.

Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they named their daughter Lilibet Diana, as a tribute to both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

Royally Us podcast hosts Molly Mulshine and Joe Drake discussed how the impact of this in the United States. They believe that more old-fashioned and traditional names will be making a comeback, thanks to Lilibet and her parents.

Drake said, “I think old names are coming back. My niece is named Margaret, she was just born about a year and a half ago. Rather than like Mckenzie and Brittany we’re starting to see those old names really come back. I think with the likes of Harry and Meghan naming their daughter Lilibet it’s going to give us commonfolk a little bit more courage to name our kids something more old school.”

Mulshine added, “I think there’s going to be a big uptick in Americans naming their children Lilibet now. The question is how the Royal Family is going to feel about that. They might think it’s a nice tribute or maybe not so much. I don’t really know yet.”

Do you agree that Lilibet is going to be one of the biggest baby names in the next few years to come?
