Now that Brian Laundrie is dead, it is being reported that his parents will be cremating his body but won’t be giving their son a proper funeral. However, it’s not going to happen right away. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Steven Bertolino, the lawyer for Chris and Roberta Laundrie, has reportedly said Brian Laundrie will be cremated when the time comes — and without a funeral. Bertolino wrote on behalf of the Laundrie’s: “We have no further comment at this time and we ask that you respect the Laundrie’s privacy at this time.”
Brian Laundrie’s Parents To Cremate His Body Without A Funeral
Just last week, authorities in Florida confirmed that the skeletal remains found during the month-long search for Brian Laundrie near the Carlton Reserve were his. “They are human remains, no doubt there. I would say that the remains were consistent with one individual, you know skeletal remains,” North Port Police spokesperson Josh Taylor told the press.
A nationwide manhunt for Brian Laundrie — named a person of interest in the case — began last month. Gabby Petito’s cause of death was strangulation, and the manner of death was homicide.
The 22-year-old was reported missing and found dead after she and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie embarked on a country-wide road trip this past summer. However, Laundrie returned home to Florida on September 1st without his girlfriend, and 10 days before her mother reported her missing.
Petito’s body was found on September 19 in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. The coroner said DNA samples were taken by law enforcement.
With that said, Laundrie’s belongings, which include a notebook and a backpack, where however described as “salvageable” and may yet provide further clues.
“A comparison of dental records confirmed that the human remains found at the T Mabry Carlton Jr Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park are those of Brian Laundrie,” investigators said in a statement.
