‘Beyond the Gates’ spoilers share that Greg Vaughn recently dished to Soap Opera Digest about his new role on BTG.
‘Beyond the Gates’ Spoilers: Michele Val Jean Tempted Vaughn into the New Role
Speaking about his successful soap career, Vaughn has run the gamut. His first soap role was Diego Guitterez on The Young and the Restless.
Vaughn then went on to become the second Lucky Spencer on General Hospital, and finally, he’s best known for playing Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives.
Vaughn joked to SOD that he actually had a different soap in mind. He remarked,
“Well, The Bold and the Beautiful” was my next goal! I was like, if I’m gonna hit all the flagships, The Bold and the Beautiful has not got my stamp of approval yet. But, I’ve made my way to CBS again!”
Michele Val Jean, who is the creator and head writer at Beyond the Gates, was also a writer at General Hospital when Vaughn played Lucky.
Val Jean tempted Vaughn with a new role. At first, she didn’t reveal the details to him. Vaughn explained that he had recently wrapped up his contract on Days of Our Lives.
He said,
“I took time off, and I embraced it, but now, I’d love to get back into the game because, if you know the industry well enough, there’s not been a lot of work going on.”
Vaughn eventually received a hint from Val Jean about a week or so later. She divulged that his character was a traveling sports orthopedic surgeon, a widower, and the father of two boys.
The idea of playing a doctor intimated Vaughn, but he was up for the challenge. He was also impressed that Val Jean’s new soap, Beyond the Gates, took off the way it did.
‘Beyond the Gates’ Spoilers: Vaughn Debuts on BTG On December 8th
BTG premiered in February 2025. Vaughn is set to arrive in Fairmont Crest, playing the new character, Dr. Kial Rollins, on December 8th.
Interestingly, Val Jean had hinted back in July that a well-known hot male soap star would soon be coming to the show.
Val Jean told Deadline back in July,
“I can’t say who just yet, but I will say longtime soap fans all know and love him!”
Vaughn is about to become very busy. He’s also set to return to Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady to celebrate the soap’s 60th anniversary.
The actor hopes his fans from his previous soap roles will tune in to watch. He said, “My grandmother was the biggest CBS watcher, so I did The Young and the Restless for her.”
He continued,
“But let me tell you, Beyond the Gates is so fresh, so well-written, so much talent for such a new show.”
The actor asserted,
“I’d say this already has that veteran-quality television, and I’m happy to be a part of it.” And I hope this character is somebody that each and every one of these fans will be excited to see and wanting more.”
Vaughn is confident that his new character and storyline will be a hit with the fans, “You’re gonna love it.” There have been rumors that Kial may become romantically entangled with the recently divorced Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix).
The drama that Kial is involved in will be intriguing for fans. He exclaimed, “It’s got drama. It’s got everything you’d want a soap to have.”
