Nicholas Alavherdian is an American who has been hiding in Scotland. He is a fugitive and it looks as if he faked his own death to get out of the sexual assault and fraud charges against him in Ohio and Utah. How did authorities find him? He was found in a hospital, where he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Police said, “He was located in Scotland, about  a month ago, where he was on a ventilator.”

When Alavherdian was found, he was using the name, Arthur Knight. The Scottish police then added, “Officers arrested a 34-year-old man in Glasgow on Monday, December 13, in connection with an international arrest warrant.”

The Scottish police did identify him through pictures from the Utah County Attorney’s office, DNA, and fingerprints. His fingerprints were also provided by Interpol and this help authorities gather even more evidence that Knight was the criminal in question.

The DNA that authorities were provided with was from the Utah County Attorney’s office and they linked it with a sexual assault case where Alahverdian used yet another alias, Nicholas Rossi.

The state of Utah also has started to enlist a “multi-disciplinary team to review old sexual assault cases where the original sexual assault kids had not been tested. One of the cases involved a 2008 sexual assault where the suspect was Nicholas Rossi. In 2017, as part of the Sex Assault Kit Initiative, the original sexual assault kit was submitted for testing, and in 2018 the DNA profile from the Utah sexual assault came back as a match to a sexual assault case in Ohio. The suspect, in that case, was Nicholas Rossi.”

Alavherdian ended up faking his own death after the sexual assault cases in 2008. He was trying to avoid charges being pressed against him in Ohio. Come to find out, there were multiple charges against him in Utah and Ohio. He thought that he would be able to get out of these charges by pretending to be dead and fleeing the country. Now he not only has COVID-19, but he also has been arrested for these charges.

For those who were assaulted by him, there’s was almost no hope since these cases went cold, but now that he has been found, justice may be served after all. Not only has he been charged with sexual assault, but he is also facing fraud charges after he obtained loans and 22 credit cards in his foster mother’s husband’s name. This caused them $200,000 in debt and his ex-wife also reported that he took about $60,000 from her! We hope that this case can be closed as soon as he goes to trial.
