There have been plenty of crimes happening recently that have made many of us stop and think about how one person could do something like that. One of these criminals is Matthew Taylor Coleman. He has been in the news recently because he killed his two small children with a spearfishing gun in Mexico.

There have been many people that were in his life coming out and telling authorities about what he was doing leading up to the crimes. Apparently, he was very active in researching QAnon and other conspiracy theory groups.

    True Crime: Friends Speak Out

Many of Coleman’s friends have come out and started talking about just what was going on before he flipped. One of his friends said, “It was obvious that he was spending a lot of brainpower on it. He was constantly checking those sites on his phone.

He spent hours each day just glued to his phone looking at that stuff. He’d read me things off his phone and say, ‘Listen to this one.’ And then he’d show me other posts of other people who believed the strangest things.”

Coleman and his wife were packing up for a family trip in August when he just decided to put the kids in the car and go for a drive. He drove from Santa Barbara to Mexico. Then just two days later, Coleman took the kids to a ranch and that is where he killed them with a spearfishing gun. He then went back to his hotel just a few hours afterward. When he tried to cross the border to get back into the states, he was arrested.

The FBI has stated that he was pretty motivated by the QAnon conspiracy theory and in that theory he learned that he was “enlightened by the QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs that his wife, A.C., possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children. Coleman stated that he believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them.”

His friend also stated, “It was an obsession for him. But no one knew how serious it was. Now I wish I had pushed back a little more and maybe stopped a tragedy.” Coleman was indicted on murder charges. If he is found guilty, he is eligible for the death penalty. He has yet to enter a plea or make a statement about the murders.
