ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal there could be some news on the horizon. We can’t say for sure when/if filming will resume, but recent events take things one step closer in that direction. Let’s take a look at what is up, where they left off, and how things might go forward.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The latest
So, filming has been a complicated situation. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal the show shut down production in the wake of Stay at Home orders and health recommendations. In the meantime, they stretched out the new content as long as they could before switching to themed repeats. But even as restrictions are easing elsewhere, it’s not so easy as just jumping back on set. Recent articles on sources like Variety and elsewhere talked about the process to getting back on set. The long story short? There’s state, local, and federal issues to deal with regarding restrictions and distancing. Plus, you have various entertainment unions that wanted their say in how/when things proceed. However, it looks like things are closer to getting settled. But where is this going to leave the shows, should they have to distance on camera?
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Where we left off
The biggest cliffhangers dealt with the custody hearing. When we last saw everyone involved, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) were in the courtroom, seated beside their “spouses” and lawyers. From a storytelling/continuity standpoint, it would look jarring to pick back up with six feet between all parties—spouses included. It would also impact the romances on the show, like Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Not to mention the Quartermaine drama that is heating up, as Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has been buying up the shares quietly. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal we left off with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) in a surprise meeting with him. More continuity to deal with. So, what might they do?
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Possibilities
One way to deal with any distancing would be to write what’s happening into the story. But we personally aren’t up for watching what’s playing out every day on the news and social media in a soap many are using as a distraction/escape. Even commercials are constantly referencing this, so one more reason to give people a place to be away from it all. So, here’s our personal pick for how to deal with the possible issues.
‘Days of Our Lives’ recently did a jump into the future, where they blew up almost every pairing/plot. When Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) came out of her coma, she learned a year had passed. Viewers got to join in the journey as she struggled to make sense of how much things changed. We think this could be a very viable, realistic option. And with wrestling able to work out having people in close contact while staying healthy, we think it’s possible they can have scenes with small family groups just fine. Or pair up real-life couples, if they bring in some new characters. What will they choose? We’ll have to wait and see.
