ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that Peter August (Wes Ramsey) poses an excellent question to Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), while they were circling each other and snarling in their little Alpha Male confrontation they had in Peter’s impossibly tiny apartment (a space that small cannot possibly be healthy), Peter asked Spinelli if he still had feelings for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and while Spinelli expertly sidestepped that question, referring to his wife Ellie and how he was happy with her and his daughter little Georgie be did say that at one time he had thought of Maxie as his soulmate… awww!!!
Okay I have to admit it, back in the day I was kind of a big Spixie fan. I loved their dynamic on screen and the geeky guy gets the hot girl trope ia something that I’ve always been a fan of. So when Spinelli landed Maxie I cheered for him. I only hated that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) kept getting herself distracted by other guys, at the time of their major hookups she was also dating a doctor at GH (I cannot remember his name at the moment but his actor also played Shawn Douglas on DDOL when Storms played Belle Black), and that was her main dalliance at the time. I thought there was hope when Maxie got pregnant by Spinelli and was pining after him but that didn’t really work out either so I kind of gave up after the second time Spinelli disappeared from the Port Charles landscape.

But, it’s now 2020, and Spinelli and Maxie have both matured and they’re no longer the star-crossed 20-somethings they were a decade ago. They’re parents now, responsible, work-a-day parents who migt have high profile, fascinating jobs but let’s face it, they know security when they see it. Spinelli, now that he’s had a taste of romance and a girl to actually value him, he might actually have the confidence to try again with Maxie. I know he doesn’t want Peter near his little girl, or Maxie Jones, and yes he might love Ellie but let’s face it… she was not actually his first choice. (Also who’s to say Ellie doesn’t have a sidepiece hidden away somewhere? Just sayin’.)
Maxie has been after a guy to give her security for awhile now. She thought she had it with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) who, as far as I can tell was a good husband and father to her and little James West. However, he’s dead, and he’s not ever coming back, (At least not for the foreseeable future) and Peter’s about to get thrown in the slammer for all of the stuff he’s done, so it looks like Spinelli may be the one Maxie ends up turning to. He also may be the only one willing to protect her from a Peter August rampage in the end. Peter is unpredictable when cornered, so if Maxie did find out the truth and turned on Peter, she may end up being a target. Right now, the only person that would willingly put his life on the line for her would be Spinelli. She’s pushed everyone else away trying to protect Peter because they’re trying to respect her choices. It’d be one thing if Peter were a good guy, but he’s not. At least with Spinelli, even though he’s affiliated with mobsters, he’s the lesser of the two evils. Will they end up together again? I still have hope. Stay tuned!!!
