ABC ‘General Hospital’ (Y&R) spoilers if there was one golden couple of daytime television, it would most certainly be Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) of General Hospital.
As a matter of fact, these two have been so rock solid that even actor Maurice Benard can’t believe that they are as strong as ever, despite all of the trials and tribulations of living in a chaotic city such as Port Charles. Here’s what he has to say.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in an interview, Maurice says he feels great over the fact that CarSon fans are so happy that Sonny and Carly’s marriage is on such a strong footing right now. He said, “Yeah, Laura and I are like two peas in a pod, in a sense. We’ve been doing it for so long and she should be involved in all of what’s going on in his life, especially with Mike.”

While things are certainly right on track with Carly, Maurice says that he also likes the fact that he’s getting to share more screen time with the legendary Genie Francis, who plays Laura Spencer on the show. He said, “Yeah, I like that, too! I love working with Genie. That’s history, again. All we need is Tony Geary back and we are all good!”
The handsome actor also said that seeing Sonny’s new living room set certainly took some time to get used to. Maurice added, “Well, initially, I just didn’t think it was Sonny, but it grew on me. As I was acting in it, I started actually like it a lot. Plus, Carly was the one who did the redecorating, so it wouldn’t have been Sonny’s taste as much, anyway!”
