ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal it’s been a while since William deVry (Julian Jerome) appeared on the show. However, that doesn’t mean the actor hasn’t been keeping up with the recent events in Port Charles. Let’s take a look at how his opinion on one episode caused an uproar, why he might be right, and what side of the Sonny Corinthos/“Mike” (Maurice Benard) fence he’s on.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The farewell

First, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Julian got a really nasty send-off that was probably worthy of the character’s crimes. After just managing to get out of Port Charles alive, he ultimately encountered Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sonny elsewhere. This, of course, led to a big confrontation between Julian and Sonny that led to a pretty controversial storyline.

This confrontation ultimately led to Sonny taking a long fall into freezing waters. Eventually, he woke up on solid ground with no memory. Since then, he’s been living in Nixon Falls and goes by the name “Mike”. Fans have not been happy, especially with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) being there as well. She’s known he’s Sonny, of course, but kept silent and even started a relationship with him. The story’s been going for a while and it seemed deVry has had enough.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Twitter mess

So, deVry took to his Twitter account to share the following message after one of the episodes.

Ok. Watched GH today. Nothing happened.

    — William deVry (@WilliamdeVry1) September 8, 2021

This led some fans to call out the actor for having sour grapes, to which deVry said, “Life is too short for sour grapes BS on either side,” he said. “I’m happy where I’m at. They are happy. Win/win.” He then concluded by praising the directing. So what got him so worked up?

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: #TeamMike or #TeamSonny?

So, everyone has an opinion on Mike vs. Sonny. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Sonny seems to have realized something about the past, but he also doesn’t seem to care. When he fought with Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) in the Tuesday episode, he didn’t really change his opinion that his future is in Nixon Falls. This, despite the fact Jax told him he has a wife and child. And considering those flashbacks in another episode before tossing the watch, we believe the Sonny we knew is gone for good. There will be some part of “Mike” he carries with him, and it will be by choice. There is no way none of this changed him on a fundamental level, no matter what memories he recovers.

As for deVry, it seems he’s firmly on #TeamSonny. Part of the reason he didn’t feel anything happened was because the Sonny reveal didn’t happen in that particular episode, nor the Jason Morgan/Carly Corinthos (Steve Burton/Laura Wright) wedding. So, while he clearly wants Sonny to find out who he is, he also is up for some wedding drama. But the actor opened up more about the way plots go these days.

    ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Complications

We’ve seen a few people comment before on how long some plots take to resolve. Look at the baby swap, Day of Day, and the Peter August (Wes Ramsey) thing? These all went on for years, and it Peter’s case, is still going on. This despite the character supposedly dying. deVry has an explanation for that.

Said the actor, “Stories used to go faster because fan faves would work every day. Now?” he noted. “They can’t. Gotta stick to their guarantee per week.” He called the situation unfortunate and blamed that for a storyline that would have years before been resolved in six months to lasting two years. We have to say we think it would likely be better off. While some soaps are doing better than they were a year ago, or even a couple years, the soap genre isn’t the powerhouse it was back in the ’80s and ‘90s. It might be time for some big changes to come about.
