She was ready to take the reins of a photoshoot for Deception and prove she has what it takes to be the boss. Sadly, she had a huge complication. And it might just get way worse. Maxie’s first day as the boss of a shoot started off rough and got a little rougher. First, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) didn’t show up on time because she was still sleeping off a heartbreak. Well, that and the booze she likely consumed to drown the pain. She finally arrived after Maxie made a desperate phone call, but she looked a wreck. Even Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) noticed. Luckily, Maxie had a miracle working makeup artist on hand.
However, Lulu Spencer’s (Emme Rylan) questions for The Invader made Sasha turn on the water works. A horrified Maxie had to send Sasha away to fix herself up again. All of this showed us a typical panic Maxie can get into, but also a total lack of self-esteem we haven’t seen a lot of. Poor girl was convinced she’d botch this opportunity forever. We figured it wouldn’t be long until Maxie had a total epic meltdown. Luckily, General Hospital spoilers indicate help came from an unexpected source.

Namely? Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). She showed up at the shoot to get Charlotte and found Maxie in a bad state. Showing she’s still got a soft spot for Sasha, as well as no hard feelings over Maxie’s new gig, she basically saved the whole shoot. Of course, it was mostly in the form of a cheery pep talk combined with some really harsh truth designed to get Maxie out of her head. It worked perfectly. General Hospital spoilers reveal Maxie took that tough love and used it to pull herself together. It was a great moment between the two characters that shows how much Nina loves and values Maxie and what she did for Crimson.

Sure, Maxie got through the photo shoot today with Nina’s confidence-boosting talk. Plus another one from Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) directed at Sasha. Here’s the thing, though. It looks like Maxie didn’t vet her people very well. Or Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) didn’t. Because there was a woman at the shoot who handed Sasha a little something to get her through. We think this is the beginning of an addiction arc for the character, which could lead to an exit as well. It’s too early to say right now, especially with filming up in the air for a while yet. But we’re sure when this arc gets going, it’ll be one to watch for fans of Mattsson.
