ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers find that we just going to say it, we cannot wait for the day that the Port Charles teen scene turns 18. There’s a reason for that. The soap plots seem to be afraid to have a good old-fashioned teenage romance these days! GH hasn’t had a teenage romance since Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) but let’s face it, while they were sweet, even they were kind of lukewarm. I’ll say that, even if I was rooting for them.
Does anybody remember when the phrase “young and in love” didn’t require an age limit? One of GH’s most beloved couples were only 16 and 17 when they hooked up, think about it, Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCoullough) and Stone Cates (Michael Sutton) were teenagers and they had a red hot romance compared to today’s teen scene. Cameron Webber (William Lipton) and Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) simply kissed, which is a complete age-appropriate thing to do for two teenagers, but they also seem to be a bit of a tepid factor to their romance. It just seemed like, back in the days of Robin and Stone, no one was afraid to let the teenagers feel what they feel and have actual human emotions, these days, everything is so… danced around.

I know this isn’t Riverdale, but it looks like it couldn’t hurt for one of these romances, either Joss and Cam or Trina and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) to go somewhere. I’m not advocating for a whole Prom Night thing because that would be too much too soon, but I think they could stand to be played a little bit more intensely. I’m saying this because, I once was a teenager and when you’re that age, you feel like everything revolves around you and your actions. At the very least you could make their scenes feel like an accurate portrayal of those emotions. And if writers are uncomfortable with putting teenagers in adult scenes, which I fully understand, then they wouldn’t have to do that. But acting like this romance angle is to be played the paper dolls is the wrong move, I feel. Teenage girls are downright brutal over guys, and teenage boys can be as sad and mopey as a Simple Plan song over girls. So… can we at least get some accuracy here? That’s all I ask. Stay tuned!!!
