ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate the final “Flashback Friday” episode was an interesting choice. There are a couple of reasons for this. Let’s take a look at what happened and how this might be related to the future of the show. They do, after all, have a loose end with the featured character.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Way back

This episode was made to make a show anniversary, and paid homage to the very first episode in a recreated scene. This converged with another plot line, as Lena Spencer (Laura Wright) is taken to GH following a tragic event at home. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal this was a devastating moment that had a big impact on Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman), and Patricia Spencer (Dee Wallace). The scenes showed an abusive, unhappy home for the family. These were hard scenes to watch, as a young Luke (Joey Luthman) is tormented by his father. Patricia (Chloe Lanier) seemed to be the only kid in the family willing to mouth off to dad. We loved watching Lanier take on a different role, and she proves she’s one to watch—regardless of what character she plays. Say what you want about Nelle, the performance of the story is always on point. But this family tragedy soon took a crazy turn.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The twist

The action moved back and forth between the events playing out, and an adult Patricia revealing the real truth of what happened the night their mother died. She seemed particular upset about Luke (Anthony Geary) going back to their old house and insisted on going to find him. Even as she was laid up in a hospital bed.

General Hospital spoilers indicate she had a good reason. Luke was determined to go home again. And the trip eventually led to a shock reveal. It wasn’t their father that delivered the fatal blow to Lena. It was Luke himself. In a tragic accident, Luke lashed out at his father for his behavior, hitting his mother with the baseball bat by mistake. As much as we are iffy on the character due to a controversial scene, we do feel a bit bad for him. Geary was heartbreaking as he finally realized what happened. We have to dive into this more to confirm, but we have a feeling this is a big reason for Luke not being in town, or the recent issues getting in contact with him.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Where now?

Watching this episode only one day after the last original episode until production starts again made us wonder about the future. On Thursday, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) had sought out the Quartermaines for a favor. He wanted to know how to get in touch with Luke for help, as he has doubts about Holly Sutton Scorpio’s (Emma Samms) death. It makes us wonder if they picked this one as a way of reconnecting fans old and new with this character before a possible return. After all the to-do about Robert’s doubts, it would make sense for at least Geary to return to solve this one. We’ll be curious to see how this works out.

As a side note, we thought it was interesting to have this episode not too long after going back into Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) past through Eden McCoy’s (Josslyn Jacks) portrayal of a young Carly. Looks like they’ve got a theme going, and we kind of like it.
